I'm glad you liked it Georgia. Here's the lyrics of the title song, from that album "From Hell to Paradise". It's my favorite from 'The Mavericks'.

**********************************
. . .From Hell to Paradise...

For thirty years they sang the song of promised victory
But who they've fought and who has won
Didn't matter much to me
I see them driving down the streets
In thier fancy shiny cars
Crowds of people to thier feet
Thier faces full of scars

No pleasantries, no luxeries
No little childrens milk
While minister's wives spent all thier lives
In china's finest silk
My backs been broken many times
But my spirit lingers on
The day it comes my way on the freedom's ship
I will be gone

CHORUS

From hell to paradise
I'll always pay the price
From hell to paradise
I'll always pay the price

This ninety mile trip has taken thirty years to make
They tried to keep forever what was never thiers to take
I cursed and scratched the devil's hand
As he stood in front of me
One last drag from his big cigar
And he finally set me free

Repeat chorus 2 X

Con ojos tiernos algun dia te mirare
Con brasons abiertos algun dia abrasare
Hay mi Havavan cuando pueda regesare

TRANSLATION

With tender eyes someday, I'll look at you
With open arms someday I'll embrace you
My old Havana someday, I will return

"Sunshine go away today, I don't feel much like dancing
Some man's come he's trying to run my life, don't know what he's asking
When he tells me I better get in line, can't hear what he's saying
When I grow up, I'm gonna make him mine, these ain't dues I been paying

How much does it cost?
I'll buy it!
The time is all we've lost
I'll try it!
He can't even run his own life,
I'll be damned if he'll run mine--sunshine...

Sunshine, go away today, I don't feel much like dancing
Some man's come he's trying to run my life, don't know what he's asking
Working starts to make me wonder where fruits of what I do are going
When he says in love and war all is fair, he's got cards he ain't showing

How much does it cost?
I'll buy it!
The time is all we've lost--I'll try it!
He can't even run his own life,
I'll be damned if he'll run mine--sunshine...

Sunshine, come on back another day,
I promise you I'll be singing
This old world, she's gonna turn around,
brand new bells will be ringing..."

"I've been thinking about our fortune
And I've decided that we're really not to blame
For the love that's deep inside us now
Is still the same.
And the sound we make together
Is the music to the story in your eyes
It's been shining down upon me now
I realise.

Listen to the tide slowly turning,
Wash all our heartaches away.
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build for another day

But I'm frightened for your children
And the life that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain.

When the final line is over
And it's certain that the curtain's gonna fall
I can hide inside your sweet innocent love
For evermore

Listen to the tide slowly turning,
Wash all our heartaches away.
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build for another day

But I'm frightened for your children
And the life that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain."

It's 48 hrs. with no sleep
So I stopped off for a little
truckers speed, it kept me on my ft.
up on my toes, I was up till 3
And I drove straight thru elneano

It's gettin easier, to lay my head
ANYOLWHERE, yeah anyolwhere
In the left turn lane, in the
driving range, you can tell I don't
Care anyolwhere, OOOHHH ANYOLWHERE
YOU CAN TELL I DON"T CARE

will i shed one more tear for my broken family
and have a glass of whisky with another friend
that has nowhere to be
get my feet on the road they feel much better there
gonna stop trying some day some year

i meant it when i told her i loved her and i did
and i meant it when i said goodbye
grabbed my suitcase and my kid
we'll find another place to call home for a while
oh i get to itching and i don't know why

i keep on wandering away
wandering away
oh just keep on wandering
wandering away

the grey is coming and the wrinkles aren't far behind
more nights than not i think this is the one where i lose my mind
maybe i can get it right this time
maybe i can stay up most of tonight
cause i don't want to see her come at me again reaching for my neck

wandering away...

all these broken promises in a shoebox full of bones
lie behind the crows feet eyes of anyone
better when they roam
whatever happens then falls under the wheel
dancing to a fiddle tune with the devil at my heel

wandering away...

my knees are wobbly my back keeps going out
try to sing like a bird but all i can do is mumble and shout and moan
wake up to another damn day
wish i was magic i'd make it go away
last night in a dream i saw her again
tried to scream but i couldn't
no no no

but I keep on wandering
wandering away
child just keep on wandering
wandering away
far away

WANDERING AWAY

They're selling postcards of the hanging
They're painting the passports brown
The beauty parlor is filled with sailors
The circus is in town
Here comes the blind commissioner
They've got him in a trance
One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker
The other is in his pants
And the riot squad they're restless
They need somewhere to go
As Lady and I look out tonight
From Desolation Row

Cinderella, she seems so easy
"It takes one to know one," she smiles
And puts her hands in her back pockets
Bette Davis style
And in comes Romeo, he's moaning
"You Belong to Me I Believe"
And someone says," You're in the wrong place, my friend
You better leave"
And the only sound that's left
After the ambulances go
Is Cinderella sweeping up
On Desolation Row

Now the moon is almost hidden
The stars are beginning to hide
The fortunetelling lady
Has even taken all her things inside
All except for Cain and Abel
And the hunchback of Notre Dame
Everybody is making love
Or else expecting rain
And the Good Samaritan, he's dressing
He's getting ready for the show
He's going to the carnival tonight
On Desolation Row

Now Ophelia, she's 'neath the window
For her I feel so afraid
On her twenty-second birthday
She already is an old maid

To her, death is quite romantic
She wears an iron vest
Her profession's her religion
Her sin is her lifelessness
And though her eyes are fixed upon
Noah's great rainbow
She spends her time peeking
Into Desolation Row

Einstein, disguised as Robin Hood
With his memories in a trunk
Passed this way an hour ago
With his friend, a jealous monk
He looked so immaculately frightful
As he bummed a cigarette
Then he went off sniffing drainpipes
And reciting the alphabet
Now you would not think to look at him
But he was famous long ago
For playing the electric violin
On Desolation Row

Dr. Filth, he keeps his world
Inside of a leather cup
But all his sexless patients
They're trying to blow it up
Now his nurse, some local loser
She's in charge of the cyanide hole
And she also keeps the cards that read
"Have Mercy on His Soul"
They all play on penny whistles
You can hear them blow
If you lean your head out far enough
From Desolation Row

Across the street they've nailed the curtains
They're getting ready for the feast
The Phantom of the Opera
A perfect image of a priest
They're spoonfeeding Casanova
To get him to feel more assured
Then they'll kill him with self-confidence
After poisoning him with words

And the Phantom's shouting to skinny girls
"Get Outa Here If You Don't Know
Casanova is just being punished for going
To Desolation Row"

Now at midnight all the agents
And the superhuman crew
Come out and round up everyone
That knows more than they do
Then they bring them to the factory
Where the heart-attack machine
Is strapped across their shoulders
And then the kerosene
Is brought down from the castles
By insurance men who go
Check to see that nobody is escaping
To Desolation Row

Praise be to Nero's Neptune
The Titanic sails at dawn
And everybody's shouting
"Which Side Are You On?"
And Ezra Pound and T. S. Eliot
Fighting in the captain's tower
While calypso singers laugh at them
And fishermen hold flowers
Between the windows of the sea
Where lovely mermaids flow
And nobody has to think too much
About Desolation Row

Yes, I received your letter yesterday
(About the time the door knob broke)
When you asked how I was doing
Was that some kind of joke?
All these people that you mention
Yes, I know them, they're quite lame
I had to rearrange their faces
And give them all another name
Right now I can't read too good
Don't send me no more letters no
Not unless you mail them
From Desolation Row

That's one of my favorite Dylan songs!

What if somebody put the lyrics to "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Low Lands" on here? I remember when it came out it took up all of side 4 of the "Blonde on Blonde" album. Would it take up a whole page of this topic, I wonder?

Wise men say only fools rush in,
But I can't help falling in love with you.

Image That one has ticked me off, since Dave had to remove it from the lyrics page.

Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?
But I can't help falling in love with you.

"If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me
For I must be traveling on now
There's too many places I've got to see..."

~This song has been stuck in my mind...I graduate tomorrow, and these words keep dancing through my brain! Rock on, Lynrd Skynrd~
