Well, I can say this Bumper...did a few posts by Joe Bloggs get changed? Yep. Obviously, though, Joe shouldn't mind someone else changing his words, since he had no problem changing mine. And when his were changed, it was pretty obvious they were, considering that it says right at the bottom they were edited by someone else. I can't say that the post where my words were changed received the same consideration.

I did make sure to keep the original posts, with the idea that they probably should be restored eventually - well, with the exception of the post where I was deliberately mis-quoted. I just had no urge to save that one.

Though I must say, I haven't really been moved to restore the other posts either. Why? Well, I'm really sick of this shit. It's ok to express an opinion, call people names, rant and rave, etc.....as long as you aren't one of a few people who seem to not be allowed to have their own opinions because it becomes some big conspiracy if those certain people have the audacity to disagree with someone and say so. I've watched several people condemn Dave for posting a JOKE. Sheesh. I've been far more offended by honest opinions that I've seen people express here that they actually believe, and never questioned that they had the right to say it. Perhaps debated with them - said that I disagreed and argued the other side. And I watched the person who was supposedly so offended by a joke, then turn around and mis-represent my words, but that's supposed to be ok. But when it's turned back around on him, that's not.

I've watched someone post an opinion, get pissed that people didn't agree with him, and watched you and a few others argue that a group of people were attacking him by expressing our opinions. In other words, you are basically arguing that because he's nuts enough to lose it and leave because multiple people disagreed with him (and it didn't take multiple people - I've seen him have the same kind of explosion when only one person disagreed with him) that we have no right to express our opinions. Because certain of us are closer to the Wizard on the site, we evidently, according to a few people, have NO right to express an opinion here, because evidently, when those people all manage to express the same differing opinion, it's some sort of an attack. Evidently an attack that turns the recipient of the attack into a raving lunatic, from what I can see.

I am usually a fairly even-tempered person. I usually don't get too uptight about things - oh, I might argue passionately about something, or have a little flash of emotion flare up about something, but in general, I don't hold grudges. I'm mostly a pushover - unless I get pushed a little far.

Frankly, I have no urge right now to change any posts back....see no reason too. Don't care what anyone thinks. After all, if we are going to be accused of taking advantage of specail privilege regardless of what we do or say, then why should I show any restraint?

Oh, and Bumper, I don't think anyone here has a problem with people saying from time to time what they think Arlo thinks....frequently, it seems a bit presumptuous, but hey, whatever.

The only time people get a little tired of it, and feel free to EXPRESS THE OPINION that invoking the name of Arlo is kind of stupid, is when we've got someone who takes what THEY THINK Arlo would think or say, and tries to use it as a club to beat another person into submission.

As in telling someone they shouldn't post something because it doesn't "fit in" with Arlo's message.

My only suggestion with all this was that people get some guts and quit trying to hide behind the name of Arlo. Saying "hey, I was offended by that joke" is a far different thing than saying "hey, you shouldn't put something like that here - don't you think Arlo would disapprove?"

I've found that there's a few people here who always bring me back, because I miss their wisdom.

The older I get, the less things like this matter. I've been called alot of names. Yeah it hurts, but I'm learning to let it slide, and trying to ignore it in the future. There are some people who will never see eye to eye, because they have different beliefs in what is truth. Hopefully we all continue to evolve into better people. Like Arlo talks about with the "layers of the onion" thing...
