I saw Zowie's posts as thoughtful, and articulate, and, in the main, I have agreed with his positions, yet, even with those with whom I've disagreed, I never "banded together", with others who agreed with me, to drive someone from this forum...
I value the opinions of many people here, if not in content, in clarity and thoughtfulness, and, for whatever reason, i think some here got caught on the wrong side of this one.... I guess petulence wins over tolerance & diversity, this time, too bad...

One last post from me here, though I'll probably stop back and read a board every now and then.

My friend ZoWie tried to interact on these boards. Unfortunately, he could not stay away from the political. And admittedly, he reads & takes stuff personally that sometimes is not intended that way - we all do. This thread has had people doing that over and over again.

Today, I watched as people quoted ZoWie back at himself, without adding a thought of their own, or explanation as to why they might feel it necessary to do that. I saw the webmaster whose "lack of interference" policy I've long admired found it necessary to take something I'd not waste the time to forward, and post on the site. (Fine - His site, he pays for it, and I sure didn't have to read it.) I watched as a group of people stood around and kicked at someone - including a "dare" to leave the site - and they continue to do so - when after realizing that it had gone too far, he'd requested to be removed from the membership list.

I've watched as people not speaking for Arlo are speaking for Arlo - who spoke for himself quite clearly (and differently than those not speaking for him) after the attack, on the GC boards... I've watched as another friend joined in on the "let's blame it all on the one smart enough to leave" rumble - and then call people babies for expressing their opinions.

Wow. If you all want to destroy Arlonet, you are doing a Bang Up job. Do not blame ZoWie. He's just your convenient excuse.

No one "dared" Zowie to leave...I only called him on it after reading he was leaving over and over..reminded me of a kid's tantrum and I called him it. So what is that shit!?

Since you are now speaking for Zowie, maybe you should try to remember the old saying...if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen!

While I rarely get involved in political discussions, I think this is a strange time indeed...I for one never thought I'd find myself on the same side of an issue as Bush, but thats where I find myself. Its too bad I guess, for Zowie anyway, that more people seem to on Bush's side on this one than Richard Gere's.

And as far as quoting what someone else has said without adding anything else - well, if there were people who really had trouble understanding the meaning of it, I would imagine those people would just shrug their shoulders and move on, like they do with so many other cryptic posts around this place.

But if a message got through with that post, perhaps there was a message that needed to be received.

We have a fairly smart cat. Every once in a while, we come home, look at him, and say in a very stern voice, "What did you do?" Sometimes he cringes and hides...often when he does that, we later find something he's been into - not always, but a lot of times. But sometimes when we do that, he looks at us like we're nuts. No ducking and cringing, no running to hide and acting guilty. Yep, I told you he was a smart cat. Seems he knows what he's done, when he's been "bad," and whether or not he should pay attention to us when we tell him he's been bad.

People are smarter than cats, right?
