well,let's see how can I put into words what a wonderful time we had that night. better just to give details of events as they unfolded. first bought six tickets, two of which were for Pete and Eunice, my inlaws from North Dakota, who were unable to attend. which left me with two spare tickets. now the plan was to drive to Stillwater, have dinner at Eskimoe Joes, a local restaurant which was just around the corner from the concert hall Arlo was playing at that night, and maybe unload the spare tickets. it was a sold out show and I didn't want the tickets to go to waste. so we arrived at the restaurant, and after a short wait, we were seated. during dinner I asked the waiter if he knew of anybody that might want the tickets, his reply to me was Arlo who? and after a few minutes of explaining and singing verses, we gave up. soon the waiter returned and said, hey you know that dude you were talking about? and I said Arlo? and he said yeah well, that's his aunt sitting right next to us. we said, no way, and he said, for real, as a matter fact and he pointed to several tables around us and said, they were all members of Arlos family. we thought he was just kidding until we noticed everyone was wearing a Woody Guthrie festival button, and we started to believe him. well curiosity got the best of us and my son volunteered and was selected to introduce himself and ask that somewhat imposing question are you guys with Arlo? the gentleman replied back yes we are, we all are and this is Woody Guthrie's sister Mary Jo Guthrie Edgmon, Arlo's aunt. well after all the introductions, and during the course of conversation, I asked Mary Jo if she thought Arlo would autograph my guitar, which I brought just incase,she said honey you stick around after the show, and after everyone leaves, thats got to get home early Arlo will come out and meet the people who won't go home and sign autographs and take pictures and stuff like that.well it was getting close to show time so we all said our goodbye's and promised to see each other again at the Woody Guthrie folk music festival this summer and headed over to the concert. we had another short wait and were seated. when all of the sudden we started noticing all these familiar faces next to us, it was Arlo's family again, all around us,Aunt Mary Jo right in front of us almost the same seating arrangements as in the restaurant, it was weird. and we were all talking about it and then finally the lights dim and Arlo and his son Abe come out on stage. first song I think was, house of the rising son. he played it on his twelve string with Abe on keyboards. not sure of second song,didn't really keep track,they did so many. the third song was definitely Alice's Restaurant after that it was all a blur. after intermission Sarah Guthrie joined the family on stage.she played a mahogany martin guitar. a lot of good old Woody songs were sung during the second half and Sarah was spotlighted on a couple of songs. they did the pickle song. they got three standing ovations and each time they came back and jambed on and on and on they weren't proud or tired. after the show we stuck around and the people left that had to get home early and the crowd began to thin. Mary Jo turned to us and said come with me and bring your guitar. stick with us your part of the family now. and she took my arm as I helped her down the stairs to the stage.Arlo and Sarah came out just like she said to meet the people and visit with family.when we got to the stage she said, now you go see arlo and get your guitar signed, I've got to talk to Sarah and she excused herself and started toward Sarah and I stood in line to meet arlo. I got my guitar arlographed, we got a picture, and we got to meet Arlo and his family. we said our goodbye's and promised to see each other at the Woody Guthrie festival again, and what might have been just a fleeting gesture of politeness the first time we said it, somehow came to mean so much more. they really did make us feel like part of the family. this summer? Woody Guthrie fest? we'll be there and this time we're bringing Pete and Eunice from North Dakota,remember Pete and Eunice? from North Dakota? I wouldn't have the spare tickets if it wasn't for Pete and Eunice. and as for the tickets. I turned them in at the box office and they were quickly resold.and did not go unused. but thats another story.and the end of this one. bufalo

well, I tried posting this earlier this week but my computer locked up and I ran out of time, plus it's been a fairly busy week, training a new person and trying to do the tax thing. Today I'm kinda fuzzy from the Buffett concert last night and don't feel like working, so I'll try it again...

The program had a bunch of his songs on it, which I thought was a setlist so I thought I wouldn't have to try to remember all of the songs, plus I forgot a pencil. After several songs it was obvious that it wasn't a setlist, so I read the not-so-fine print which stated that it was a list of songs that Arlo may select from - ooops. Most of the usual songs were there, tho - Alice was the third song (too early for a rest room break), and they played a few I haven't heard in a while - all of which were wonderful.
Arlo was dressed in black except for white socks...Abe was also in black, also and had white socks and sneakers and Sarah wore a long black skirt and long sleeve blouse - I can't remember what color, but I'll check the pics when I get home...didn't notice her socks.
I have a few good pics that I'll pass on once I get the new laptop on the net...
Other than that, a great time was had by all and I'm looking forward to Okemah...

Thanks for the furthur info Stew! Sounds like a great time. White socks? That means ya'll saw an Arlo clone. I told Arlo once when he wore white socks that he was an Arlo Clone & not really him cuz he didn't wear red socks. He thought that was funny! [img]/ubb/smilies/laugh.gif[/img] I did get my acoustic guitar Arlographed once! Haven't done that to the electric one yet... I can't wait till Baltimore...

fine print it does refer to the offer as being that of a standing offer
and will remain a standing offer until which time we sit down together
with Arlo in concert. now it just so happens the tickets are exchangeble
for tickets to the Woody Guthrie fest.I here theres going to be an air
