i was there! when i was a kid (only white person in the area), i know what they are talking about. (if you focus on the clouds of smoke, you will have missed the point.) the commentator seemed a bit condescending though.

pardon (just to clarify), but when i saw that clip (the mini documentary), i could remember things that the people were talking about, the people who were from there and who lived there. i am not on board with bob marley's religious views, nor was it my focus to go on about them, but he belongs in that story. but seeing the area again, and the various clips with the people who lived there, and listening to their stories, i know what they were talking about, i remember.

as for the commentator, he was more of a distraction than anything else. yes, a bit condescending. apologies for that.

i was a kid 11/12 years old…i played with some of them kids.
a funny thing, "mavin" (how my friend and her family referred to their mom) didn't want me to go out the house with my shorts with patches on the back. that was a curious thing to me. a lot of work went into them patches, i weren't ready to give up my shorts! haha…
probably just some social thing i didn't have sorted out. (?)

anyhow, no regrets, i am glad i was there.

funny thing, i pulled out my copy of last of the brooklyn cowboys (pretty cover pic) just the other day and saw it was one autographed to me from arlo. i'd forgot about that one? took me by surprise and made me smile.

just before she went into hospital I would go every day to make her a meal, however no matter what I suggested or brought she would always ask for a fried egg, so when she went into hospital I bought some white and yellow felt and made her an egg. On the Saturday before she pass, when she was struggling even to drink water and spending more and more time sleeping, all of a sudden she asked for a fried egg! as she was on the 'Path Way' the hospital kitchens sent one to the ward, she managed a little of the yolk, but it was so funny that she asked. I have decided that when she is interned I will drop the felt egg onto her coffin.
