The show was terrific. I think my favourites this time were Sarah Lee's acapella song, St James Infirmary and My Peace at the end, and all the bits in between ...lol. Thank you ADG.

Didn't get to say g'day though. A bunch of us waited for some time in the foyer, but no Folkslinger spottings. Eventually we asked one of the theatre ladies - she said he isn't doing any greeting on this Aus tour. ?? Ah well, maybe next time.

It's 5:30am, on the road again, homeward bound.

I was also at the Melbourne concert and waited afterwards for a quick chat and photo with Arlo, as he often comes out to sign CDs and meet the fans. Was so sorry this did not happen this time, but enjoyed the show as always. Waiting for the next visit to Australia, and hoping that this time he can come out for a bit after the show.

Arrived back home near Brisbane tonight, it's a bloody long way to Melbourne ... lol. Great concert, but I yes, was a bit disappointing after. No problem if ADG needs to call time out, we all understand, but the theatre people could have told folks a lot earlier that there wouldn't be any signings or photos. They didn't need to be Einstein to figure what everyone was waiting for. And the Miss Bossyboots attitude didn't sit well with this Arlonetizen.

And a suggestion (constructive I hope) if anyone from the tour reads these posts - Arlo played Do Re Mi, my favourite track from the 32c Postage album with the Dillards. On that record its like 'pickin/verse/pickin/verse/pickin', and it's some of the best pickin you've ever heard, but in the show it was like 'verse, verse' and it's all over far too soon. I realise that you don't have the band on stage, banjo etc, but The Folksliger can make a 6 string sound like a little orchestra - so maybe think of stretching the show version of the song with a few more instrumental bars.

Sorry about your after show experince Dave. I have been to three Arlo shows (2004,2007,2013)and only one had a meet and greet but have been lucky enough to meet up with him all three times while just hanging around after the show and waiting to see if he came by. He has always been very gracious about having a chat and happy about having photo's taken. So my experiences have always been very positive. I know it sounds kind of "out there" but each time I have just imagined it in my mind and it just happens! Call it Karma or just sheer luck!
Remember in 2007 when you, Bobbi and I had a fun time, after the others had gone, talking with Arlo and taking photos?
I hope he comes back in 2017 for Alice's 50th anniversary!

Yes, 2007 he was by himself and came out after and signed CD's that people bought. I recall talking to him and I was feeling a bit uncomfortable that I wasn't buying anything but I had them all. I didn't say much because he looked tired. Performers of Arlo's ilk look relaxed and in control on stage but it must be very hard work. I would have liked to ask him about his arrangement of St James infirmary which is so compelling compared with others eg Van Ronk, but also sometimes it is best to just say thanks, great concert, and not make the performer have to think too much because they would be mentally strained enough as it is. I wouldn't like to remember a concert where the performer was cranky afterwards. I want to remember the concert and I really don't think anymore that meeting the performer adds much. If they invite you and you need to buy a CD I'll go but I keep it simple and quick.

Yeah, I'd cut him a little slack for not coming out after a concert. In between travel to a venue, setting up, sound check, pre-scheduled interviews with radio/press and handling business stuff, any performer can be TIRED at the end of a concert. A lot of the time, they've been at the venue since 1pm or before, , and don't finish loading out until after 10:30. All they owe you for your ticket purchase is a great concert, and Arlo does deliver that.

Scotty with Arlo, Verlie and I at Roanoke VA in 2005, with Folk Uke and Cathy's daughter in Brisbane 2011, and Scotty coming into Los Angeles. He's been all over - Nashville, Dollywood, Abbey Road, and Melbourne! I've had some weird looks setting him up for pics but most ppl (including some concerned soldiers near the Eifel Tour) have a smile. Friends from work took him on holiday to New York and the Bahamas last year ... lol.
