Man... Who is this guy? I admit that there are things that concern me in life but this guy just...well I can't get foul mouthed here. Anyway, it seems like this is just like walking down a busy street. You never know what kind of folks you are going to bump into. I just wish the angry folks would go back to be d and try waking up in a better mood. All I can say is "Peace be with you" Tarbaby Jim Sounds like you are going to need it.

I think Jesus also said those who are not against him are with him. When he was around it seems like what drove the fundamentalists of his day away from him was Jesus' insistence to hang around people they didn't agree with. I think that's the gist of the good Samaritan story.

BTW Folks,

I don't think the guy who started this thread has any interest in what anyone else has to say, it's just some idiot rant. At first I was wondering what world religion I was preaching. I couldn't think of one. As most of you know, my take has always been that's there's one truth and infinite ways to approach it.

The key to the guy's fundamentalism is this: He says "... I challanged her Hindu guru hugging whatever. I thought Jesus said," I am the ONLY way."

In other words, it's inconceivable to him that Melanie's hugging guru could be a part of Jesus' way. How small his Jesus is compared to the biblical Jesus who is there for anyone who asks, who seeks, or who preaches love.

As he cannot arise to meet the big Jesus, he makes his Jesus small enough to meet him. He has made a God in his own image, to fit into his small heart, and he called him by a familiar name.

If he does create a web page for me, I hope he'll be man enough to put these words in it.

Melanie hates me and now I guess you do too Arlo? It seems as if you think being "fundamentalist" in a belief system is a BAD thing. Why? If believing in the teachings of one teacher above another is bad, why believe in anyone? What difference would it make in the grand theme of things? Is what we (you) are looking for is world peace? If so, where will it be found? Hindu, Buddist, Christianiy? I don't think ANY religion will get us where we need to be to see a world at peace. I believe it is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit. (not some "Jesus" spirit being). Either Jesus is who he says he is or he is the biggist lier that ever lived. Who did he think he was saying his was the "ONLY" way? It might be kind of hard to get Him to join your one world religion church Arlo. He gets mad sometimes and turns things upsidedown. But then, what would you expect from a "fundamentalist"?

You are nice Arlo but, your post to me was kind of hateful. I don't why you dislike me just because I believe in fighting for the truth that Jesus alone died so we could live in peace forever. It's not such a strange and bigoted belief as to be rejected for a "one size fits all" religion.

If I do make a page about you on a future website Arlo, I will try to be as open and honest as I can possibly be. After all, I love you and want to see you accept the real Jesus. (just a crazy person talking)

A common but perhaps not exclusive trait of fundamentlists is intolerance for any view other than thier own. It's clear to me that's where you are Jim.
As for Arlo preaching some world religion, that's nonsense. Read the posts here that dispell your assumption. In fact, you may be guilty of what you are falsely accusing Arlo of.
Being a fundamentlist does not make you a bad person provided you don't act on your beliefs concerning the rights and beliefs of others.
I'd submit that fundamentlists of polar opposite views are more like each other than they are like other people with less fundamentlist views.(Jerry Falwell and Osama Bin Laden are more like each other than they are like me.)
History proves this. Many religious fundamentlists have been the worlds most prolific terrorists, from the medieval crusades to 9/11 and much inbetween and since.

I'm gunna go out on a real limb here, forgive me if you find it offensive or wrong, but my intentions are honorable.Comment or correct me at your will.
I've known people and friends that have been helped through a crisis or addiction through religious interdiction, mostly through Christian beliefs and Jesus. Many of them come out the other side with the born again thing going on, and sound much the same as you did in your posts. I'm assuming by reading between the lines, you may be in this camp. If so, great, it worked for YOU. It may be another route for the next person. If I'm wrong and you find my assumption offensive, I'll apologize.
But since we started an assumption game here, I figured I'd play too.

In any event, A wise man once said" Religions are like fingers pointing at the moon. People spend too much time argueing about who's finger to look at, and not enough time gazing at the moon".
I'll ignore the fingers, and gaze at the moon.

I never went to guru school. How much does it pay though? :)

I think we also might have to thank Jim for being the dark to stick our light in this week by the way.

Thanks, Larry... I always loved that quote... reminds me of what my friend Muhammad was saying.

I don't know it's origin, but I do know I was made aware of it by John Flynn.

No one will find hate here except any they may bring with them. The only place hate belongs is in a big black hole, never to escape again.

Knowing that Arlo is more clever than Br'er Rabbitt was, it's clear to me that this tar baby won't work like the original did. An almost clever screen name that seems to shed some light on the motive of it's owner, if only in a Fruedian manner.

Just look to the heavens, or, if you are inside, just stick your hands in your back pockets. :)

well i know for a fact that i'll be contemplating either the moon, or my bellybutton this weekend...

either one will give me spiritual comfort.

the chonklit cake I'll eat will nourish my belly and my soul however

isn't life grand?

i'll check back here later to see if tarbaby is still tryin' to stir the pot.

I hope you don't expect a "donation" for those words of wisdom!

Either way I am afraid I might find a full moon!
