Carnegie Hall 2008

We're already getting inquiries about the annual holiday show at Carnegie Hall for this year. Here is some information that will help you. Tickets will go on sale a few weeks earlier this year. We're expecting tickets to go on sale in August.

Current members of the Guthrie Center get priority notification of the show and have the first chance to buy advance tickets. To become a member or for more information, call George at (413) 528-1955. Only CURRENT members will be able to purchase tickets before the general public. Make sure you become a member by August 1st to get your advance notice and instructions on how to get tickets.

We will send out an e-mail notification as soon as tickets go on sale to the public. Make sure you are on the e-mail list. You can also sign up online... www.risingsonrecords.com and go to the store page. It's on the left side about 1/2 way down.

Postcards will be mailed out to people who are on our mailing list AND live near Carnegie Hall.

We will also post another notice once tickets are on sale.

With all due respect, can't everyone on the mailing list get the postcards? We who live farther away need even more advance notice, to get airline reservations. If you're traveling 2,000 miles to Carnegie, it's nice to know you'll have tickets before you make the non-refundable travel reservations.

Just an observation.

It is nice to see Arlo in Manhattan- but if it is cost prohibited, why not
see him in your area or in Florida? I'm trying to save you some $$$$$$$$

lodging is EXPENSIVE in Manhattan, taxi service, food etc.

True... And most of us do see Arlo when he's in our area... but some of us have made a traditional Blunder at Thanksgiving in NY.... and when will we again be likely to see Arlo and Pete together???

Email lists can be created with a simple query to the main list, and shouldn't be too difficult to produce.

I'm planning a Thanksgiving in NY to visit with Mom, and see all my Blunderbuddies at Carnegie.

It all sounds nice and the city is nice to see at that time of the year- work some overtime to pay for it all. Yes, the price will be worth the show.

I understand your need to plan ahead especially these days. That is one of the reasons I am putting tickets on sale a little earlier this year. We couldn't possibly send out postcards to everyone, because our mailing list is too big and our advertising budget is too small. Make sure you are on our e-mail list. You can sign up on www.risingsonrecords.com. Go to the store and it'll be on the left about 1/2 way down the page.

Just to clarify, here is the order of ticket sales and notices:

1. Guthrie Center members get to buy tickets before they go on sale to the public.
2. Then we will send out physical postcards to people on the mailing list and live near Carnegie. We will at the same time send out an e-mail notice to everyone on the e-mail list. So if you are on the e-mail list, you have the same advantage as someone who gets a physical postcard.
3. We will then post the information on our sites, forums, myspaces, etc...
4. Then the tickets will be sold through the Carnegie Box Office.

I hope this clears things up a bit. Sorry if my first post was not totally clear.

The Holland Motor Lodge, which is in Hoboken NJ right in front of the toll booths for the Holland tunnel, have reasonable (99.00), comfortable, safe lodging just a quick cheap subway ride from the Hall and a 30.00 cab ride home. It ain't no Ritz, but certainly acceptable to us and we stay there often.
