We are still digging out here after 50 centimetres of snow,which works out to too damn much.The city snow dumps have run out of space and some folks have snowbanks over 10 feet high.We are not far from a record winter snowfall now.

The best I remember, 53 centimiters=23 inches, which was the length of my first-born.

That's way too much snow! We only got 2-3 inches of the predicted 11 inches.

Our niece in Columbus, Oh called the other day & they got a blizzard of 13 inches. Yikes...

There was a guy at the show I was at Friday night, who's daughter got caught on the 401 heading to Toronto, it got closed down and she ignored it. He was going to try to send her a map... I do wonder how he was planning on doing that, I hope she made it someplace safe o.k.

hey Cheryl, good to hear things are calm over there. Last Friday we had a tornado, followed by rain all weekend with flooding, last night more thunderstorms and today another tornado watch! Where's the beach weather

Beautiful sunny winter here, it's going to get a lot colder (well cold to us anyway) We'll probably start lightitng the fire in the next few days.

Today I was out in the paddock and heard a twig snap. I thought it was the horse but next minute a kangaroo hopped past me and said hello.

Hope your weather was better. I bet the Kangaroo was cute. We have hot weather now lol...

I'm super sorry for everyone getting the horrible life threatening weather.

It was 91 degrees out here in sunny Northern CA today. I wouldn't know much about it though. I work in an office with no windows about 11 hours a day.

It only matters if I'm driving home in the rain. I HATE that! My little crappy car being passed by some monster SUV that sprays water all over my windshield so I can't see.

Well, I guess it also matters when it gets dark at 5:30 pm. I'm always at work at least 2 hours longer than I get paid for because I'm retarded. It's not the best side of town and we have to get an escort to our car. It's kind of scary while you wait 20 minutes outside in the dark for security to show up.

But tonight it was still light when I left at 8:30 pm! Excellent!

It takes me about an hour to get home if I drive the speed limit.

The biggest excitement I got today was the fact that my crappy little car's speedometer only works when it feels like it. Half the time I have no idea how fast I'm driving. I pick the second to the fastest car and pace myself with them hoping that if the HPD is hiding they'll go for the first guy. Yeh, once in a while man you get this dangerous rush of adrenalin as you watch your rear view mirror and your pretty sure you're probably goin' about 80 mph. Damn! My life is full of excitement!

"Yep, I think I'll go home and eat some chocolate ice cream then burn 69 calories on my recumbant bicycle while I watch the history channel."

Actually, I could also use some blunder vibes if anyone has any extras.

My oldest daughter and her husband are having a very very hard time. There's some domestic violence history and I believe she has been avoiding me for about 6 weeks. When I call she won't let me come to see her. I'm pretty positive it's because she has a big secret that starts with "P". Mom's aren't stupid. We actually do have eyes on the back of our heads you know. I was suspicious the last time I saw her.

Part of her mental illness makes her think people will be mad at her even when she doesn't need to be worried. She's a grown woman and like most the women I see, she instinctively felt her biological time clock ticking. I never craved babies, but I don't think I am average in that. Both my daughters do. This will be my first grandchild. I can be happy about that. I think I could even get excited if I really thought about it, but with her mental health issues I would have to keep my excitement to myself. My enthused personality is very unpleasant to her in some way I don't understand.

Knowing my daughter, she is terrified that she was on seizure medication and anxiety medication before she knew and is tortured with intrusive fearful thoughts she can't control that something will be wrong. She told me today on the phone she had stopped taking her medications even though she didn't say why and I didn't ask. She'll tell me when she's ready. I respect her right to privacy EVEN THOUGH I'M BLABBING IT TO ALL MY ARLO FRIENDS!

No matter the timing, or the finances, or the fact that unless there is a miracle my son in law may spend some time in federal prison, the only productive thing I could possibly say if she would just admit it is, "That's wonderful, Honey! I so happy for you! I know this is something you have wanted for years," and mean it when I say it. All of you mothers know we would fall on a cross for our kids.

I love her so much and her life is so hard. What's done is done. I want this to be as happy for her as possible. I'm the childbirth educator and the breastfeeding lady for crying out loud! And this is a significant life event for her. She'll remember this the rest of her days and will grieve the loss of the fantasy of how she would have wanted it to be. She had read "Spiritual Midwifery" 3 times through by the time she was 15.

In my profession I see grandmothers coming to see me with their daughters who still cry years later about their own birth experiences.

She's been married a year this month and she didn't even celebrate it. When I realized I had actually missed it I was stunned. She said she was glad I missed it. The other parts of her life are drowning us all, so it just slipped by.

I feel bad about not keeping her secret here, but I needed to tell someone. And we need the blunder vibes and prayers. At least now, I'm pretty sure she will qualify for healthcare.

the temps dropping here, nights are getting colder, the fire's burning the horse is wearing her blanket. But what beautiful days, when the sun feels good instead of fierce and it's a pleasure to work outside.

It's 95 degrees and hazy from all of the fires we have been having. Our humidity is very low so the heat is less oppressive than it would be in a more humid part of the country.

Yesterday the radio said most of the fires were from lightning strikes.

The sun shining on my front porch this morning looked like orange powder the color of California poppies. My youngest daughter asked how orange powder could get on our front porch. I thought it could be the red fire retardant that is dropped from air planes or ashes. I went out and felt it and realized it was the sun. There were no ashes or power and I could see the vivid shadow of my hand. Even though it was cause by something bad, I have to admit it was kind of pretty.

I'm sending vibes for all those who's homes, lives and pets may be in peril. Also all the wild animals. I always worry about the animals when we have these fires.
