OMG that is so sweet. I love this kid!! Please tell him I'll introduce him to any one of mine.

When my son was very little, he had heard about the college dorm prank of setting a bag of poop on fire on the porch. He asked if you could get it "pre-packaged" or "in a kit". (TOYS R US had the prepacked poop in aisle #8 ).

I was a young mother - but this made me wince with the realization I was really very old.... When he was - I guess 13 ish he had a friend who, while waiting for my son, was trying to make conversation with me. He asked me if I was aware that Paul McCartney had a band - "before WINGS?"

Oiy.

Reminds me of when our son was a teenager in the '80's. He came to us all excited, "Mom, dad! You've got to hear this new song!" It was a cover of "California Dreaming."

Also, my oldest daughter won a beautiful vase at her work with a picture of Jesus on it and gave it to me. One of her really young co-workers exclaimed,
"Oh, you won the Clapton vase."

Kids are a trip!

Oh that is so true - Hardly anything bewilders a teenager faster than Mom knowing all the lyrics to their "new" song. (I know it did me - when my mom knew the words!)

My son bringing me a new song or artist and playing new songs or videos for me, is a WONDERFUL memory of mine. He was always so eager to share his music with me. I took it as a huge compliment. Actually - even today we still trade music back and forth.

... which reminds me of my son playing this "cool new song" by Motley Crue.... "HELTER SKELTER" ... which I sang along with...
MOM... how do you know this song!?!

I remember singing along to a song on the radio one time...my son Kevin, who was about three, came over, clapped his hands over my mouth, and said, "Mommy! You don't HAVE a singing mouth!!" A critic, at three...!!
He got over it...he loves it when his sister and I sing at our local Folk Club and do tight harmony stuff in songs...being related and having some similar vocal qualities, we blend well.

The song I remember my mom singing was "I got Rhythm" by the Happenings (new in 1966) which evidently was done in the 40's. Who knew? But there have been a couple I've been able to do to my kids too.
