Guthrie Family Legacy Tour: Arlo, Sara Lee, Abe, Johnny & Gordon

Wonderful show! I loved hearing Woody's songs being done by his family.... and of course the Arlo pieces and the ones by Sara Lee & Johnny. Was pleasantly surprised to hear Arlo do Alice's Restaurant as I figured when I heard it for the 40th anniversary that would be the one and only time I'd hear it. Arlo got all the words right and the guitar picking was just the same.... perfect all around

Perhaps the most incredible thing about this concert was the replay of a wire recording of Woody, rambling on about something (sigh... old brain, no memory) and just going on with it... never did figure out where he was going with it, if he *was* going anywhere with it. At least when Arlo rambles, he gets somewhere!

Arlo still is the consummate storyteller. I picked up the Live in Sydney CDs and am looking forward to reliving the concert that way, though sad that Sara Lee & Johnny aren't on that set.... hopefully, Rising Son Records will publish a CD of this tour too!

P.S. We didn't bring our daughter along this time, but we'll bring her to the solo tour next year if we can get Arlo to play her favorite song, City of New Orleans.... she's loved that song since she was 5 years old!!! (She's 17 now ) And we want Arlo to return to the Fox Theatre for his solo tour -- that is an awesome place to see Arlo, and it's way more convenient for us to get to, too.
