Howdy folks:

I'm a huge music fan, but mainly of the older styles of folk, bluegrass, and country. I've been trying to see Ramblin' Jack Elliot sing for a long while and can't find anyway of getting the skinny on where he's going to play next unless I just start showing up at miscellaneous concerts, which I would but I just don't have the time and I am kind of living in the middle of know where. Also, good ol' Pete Seeger is like that as well. I heard that he doesn't play much but does come out for some shows now and again but I can't find any type of schedule or website or book or anything that would help me pin down where he would be next. Granted that may be how it should be but man does it get me frustrated because I sure want to see them. If you can give me any advice that would sure be helpful. Thanks a bunch!

Peace.

Got this one covered...

As for Pete Seeger, try the Strawberry fest in May, Corn Fest in July and Pumpkin Fest in October; all at the Beacon Waterfront Park. He usually plays a set.

Don't forget the Clearwater Festival, too, in June.

Sing Out! Magazine is presenting "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?"; a celebration of the songs of Pete Seeger and benefit for Sing Out! Magazine, May 15th at the Keswick Theater in Glenside PA. The evening will be emcee'd by Phila. radio personality Gene Shay and features in addition to Pete, Bruce Cockburn, Judy Collins, Ronnie Gilbert, Janis Ian, Natalie Merchant, Holly Near, Odetta, Bernice Johnson Reagon and others. Should be quite a night. Reg and I will be stopping by on our way home from seeing Arlo and Dave Bromberg in Wilmington DE Friday night. See you there?

Welcome back! Does anyone know where I can get any info on SLG & Johnny's show in Norfolk, VA in July? No venue is listed on their site so I have no idea where they will be at up there. Thanks to whoever knows... :)

JohnC, good to see you! Tell Reg I said hi. I'm still thinking about the Wilmington show, already have tickets for the Harrisburg show.... and then The Church on the 22nd...can't possibly go to Philly on the 15th also.... I used to babysit for Gene Shay's kids; I'd love to see him again. If you happen to get to speak with him, tell him Terrie Leventhal says hi.

Is anyone going to the Harrisburgh show?

possibly!

Just to let those know who are interested and looking for a place before or after the show, there's a real decent brewery with a full bar and restaurant, just a short distance from the theater, it's called Appalachian Brewing, I believe. Located on Cameron Street. If your downtown(where the theater is located), it's in the direction away from the river. They have a real good stout called Susquehanna Stout, in addition to many other types of brew.

I've been there a few times and have always been treated well.

Thanks for the info on the MD show. Probably won't be going there as we'll be doing MD with the Arlo show in Bethesda in May. We hope to go to the Norfolk show insteadof the SLG Johnny Md show. Thanks to Baldwinville for the info on the Norfolk show. :)

It is a house concert. I went to a house concert once which was of Peter Tork of the Monkees & James Lee Stanley. That was fun!

For others needing it: website with the Norfolk show info is here:

Reg and I were Just discussing the Harrisburg gig tonight. We need somewhere to go between the Wilmington and Keswick gigs so why not? Could use some help though, need to know how close the venue is to the Harrisburg Amtrak station and a (hopefully) nearby hotel. Thanks in advance for any help...Great to be back!

I'll give it some thought. The Reading RR used to run, hasn't in years. Maybe you can stay here? The Amtrak RR runs through Lancaster into York along Route 30, you'd still have to make it from York north to H'burg. We'll figure it out.

I'm really bummed out about this. We won't be going to the SLG & Johnny show in Norfolk cuz it is supposed to rain bad today. We figured if we drove all the way down there it's liable to get cancelled & then we've gona all that way for nothing. If it were Arlo we'd forge on for sure. If anyone goes do post some info on here as to what happened. Meanwhile we stay bummed out bigtime...
