Hey everyone I have to do a Project for " History Day", it is actually pretty cool...anyway, I decided to do my project on the Life of Woody Guthrie....It is about his life, music and how he had an impact on music and people today. well as you all know folk music has has a huge impact on the world. So if anyone can give me Any TRUE information on Woody (I know that there are websites with information about people that do not hold true to the real story.) I would appreciate it very much. I think Arlo May have some good Information About his dad or know where to get it, but i don't think he will reply, after all i am only 15..........I hope he'll help me. Any info, Let me know. There's a new book out that's good; "Ramblin' Man:The Life and Times of Woody Guthrie" by Ed Cray. It's currently in stores and libraries (put in a request if you can't find it at the library) and it is excellent. There's also a book by Jim Longhi, "Me, Cisco and Woody" that tells about Woody and his buddies during WWII when they were in the merchant marines. Look around on the web, also...there's good info out there. Good luck with your project!

Get a hold of Woody's "Library of Congress Recordings" as well on CD or tape. It's almost 3 hours long, the only recorded interview with Woody in existence.
