I have a friend...out here in the 9-5 world...who is wonderful young lady who also happens to be a very nervous new New NEW mommy to be. She asked me for good vibes... without even knowing what I had backing me in terms of you guys. I'd love to print out an overwhelming show of Blunder support for her. And in all seriousness, she deserves the power of Blundervibes, please keep her in your thoughts and heart.

I "forgot to be a mommy," so I'm sending all my current crop of goodmommyblundervibes to her; they've been saved for many years, and I've listened to my friends a lot. May you sleep; may you have the wisdom not to freak out over the small stuff. May you laugh and play tickle and love your little one. All the rest doesn't seem to matter a lot in the long run.

Sleep when the baby sleeps! Thinking that the baby's naps are the time to catch up on housework is a recipe for exhaustion.

3 times, but who's counting? All of our children were C-sections & with each one, the hospital stay was shorter (by now it's probably done on an out-patient basis!) & the recovery time was longer. My wife needed a lotta help once she got home with a baby, & my philosophy was that it should me rather than one of our moms (who are wonderful ladies, BTW). So I would take a week's vacation each time.

I shake my head when a guy tells me that he's gonna "babysit" his own kids. I hate that expression. Why isn't it called "babysitting" when a woman cares for her kids? It's not babysitting, it's fulfillng one's responsibility. That's today's sermon...

Dina you would do well to take parenting advice from Joe and you will benefit from it. You are lucky too to have someone like RegFaith on your side! Hope eveything is going well!

While I have some time, here is more child-rearing advice:

Always be generous with your time!

Some advice for when they get older:

If they're not too talkative, just tell 'em that it's bedtime. Whenever my kids were supposed to go to bed, suddenly they'd think of 19 things they had to tell me.

If they're having trouble with their hearing, just eat a lotta beans. You can stand a foot away from them & they'll be looking right at you, but they won't hear anything you're saying.

But just pass some gas when you're 3 rooms away, & I guarantee that they'll hear that!
