I was looking up Starsky & Hutch the 70's cop show on the internet which is a new obsession for me & discovered it comes on a tv ch WUAB 43 in Cleveland, Ohio 6 Pm Sun Nites & maybe 11 PM Sun nites. My hubby asked his sister in Columbus, OH if she can get that channel & she can. We on Fri we are supposed to go to visit her in Columbus for 2 weeks. So I gotta get ahold of a tv Sun nites at 6 pm while we are there. They are supposed to show the VOODOO ISLAND episode! Season 3 whee!

One problem is we will be there only one Sunday. It's too far to drive from here in VA to OH in one day so we are splitting the trip up & staying over nite. Normally we stay 2 nites on the way up & one nite on the way back to split up the trip. The reason we stay 2 nites on the way up instead of one nite like we do on the way back is so we can stay at Hawks Nest State Park in WV. This yr we are staying Fri & Sat nites at Hawks Nest & then go to Huntington, WV & stay there overnite Sun nite & then onward ho to Ohio on Mon. We are staying 2 weeks with the weekend after this upcoming one being the weekend inbetween & then the Sat after that 2nd weekend we start partway home then & then the next day Sun go the rest of the way home. So the sad thing is I'll be there only on one Sunday. But one Sunday of Starsky & Hutch is a whole lot better than Sundays here in VA with no Starsky & Hutch. But this is so exciting! <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

David Soul of Starsky and Hutch played a prominent role in our local history here in Pittsburgh.

It woulda been better for everybody had he stayed home.

In the early 1980's, when the steel mills of Homestead (just across the Mon River from the city, a quick trip across the Homestead Grays Bridge from where I live) were being threatened with closings, a group of about a dozen or so ministers formed the Denominational Ministry Strategy (DMS) to protest the closings. One of the members was Soul's brother, Rev. Daniel Solberg.

Soul himself showed up in Homestead to produce & direct a PBS documentary about the DMS called Fighting Ministers, stepping out from behind the cameras to take part in the protests himself.

The DMS chose the unfortunate tactic of confronting the steel execs by going to their churches & disrupting Sunday services, a tactic that just about nobody could respect & one that made the folks around here sympathize & side with the corporation heads against the workers. By then, the big wigs were determined to shut down the mills just for spite, & with public sympathy in their favor, that's just what they did.

Homestead didn't recover until about 20 years later, when the mill site was turned into a huge mall now known as the Waterfront.

BTW, the key word is WAS. The Lutheran Church "defrocked" Rev. Solberg for his involvement in this.

You know me, Cheryl. My fingers are on the nation's pulse.
