On Wednesday, I had my usual stresses, therapy appointment in the morning, then ran over to the computer lab and managed to get a job which I realized later I won't be able to get paid for (Financial Aid crap between 2 different colleges and who processes which aid)... then 2 Spanish tests, then home to study for a test on Thursday.

Instead, I fell asleep, which probably served me a whole lot better than studying anyway. Lance woke me up, saying I absolutely HAD TO keep our marriage counseling appointment that night at 7:30. I said our marriage is ok now and I'm sleeping for a test in the morning <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

I took a Xanax and my allergy meds, along with a Prilosec on the way to the therapist's office (my car gets there all by itself these days). I was feeling really sick and wanted to go back to bed!

Lance, Michael and I walked down the long hall and I got to the door, opened it and Marie was sitting in her waiting room... weird! Then I saw a blur of faces: my sister, Ellen; her sister-in-law and my Avon manager, Kathy; and my Arlo-buddy, Mari.

Lance had put together a surprise party... and I realized that they weren't all there for our marriage counseling appointment! But it took awhile for me to come to that realization...

We had a nice dinner at Reading's Chef Alan's and an incredible triple chocolate cake with phenomenal chocolate icing (I brought some home with me so I still can enjoy my birthday party).

They gave me some really neat gifts and Lance's were all of a theme: Native Americans, including a pair of fetish earrings and 2 flutist CDs. He got me a Native American encyclopedia-style book (huge) and then... last night while I was enjoying a really hot soak in the tub, he placed a brand-new copy of "Arlo, Alice and Anglicans" on my pillow!

I even spoke with Lisa earlier in the day and ordered my tix for the May shows and volunteered for Mile 3 to give out cold water and Gatorade to the thirsty masses.

A great birthday which spanned 2 days! I guess being 50 isn't all that bad???
