That's the worst thing about those storms ... just add to the mess rather than blowing it all away. Glad all survived. Mom and John were worried, too, when I told them about you staying behind. We were all relieved when you decided to leave. Crazy folks who live on the edge of the world.

Ain't it funny how whatever your bad weather is, it always seems like somewhere else's is scarier? An earthquake would scare the dickens out of me, but tornados are just what come with the territory.

Last night's weather was much worse than the "hurricane" we got last Thursday into Friday.

A tornado touched down in a suburb of Phila, just about a mile from where my father still lives.

Out here, we had so much rain that many of my neighbors, including my contractor across the street, had FEET of water in their basements.

Thank goodness, as much of a mess as this house is, we only had "dampness" in our basement.

Tornados scare me!

The phones are still out--arrgh! & To get online I have to go to the library. The internet is down at the branch closest to me so we had to go into town. Yikes... The phone co said the phones may not be back on until Tues. Yuck!

Forgot to mention I heard they had tornados in Chesterfield county & Waverly around here. So glad they weren't too too close to me. Hope you all are surviving your storms okay...

So we may as well accept what we are handed... as Kitty very well showed us! (Thank you Kitty for the lesson in acceptance and celebrating life in the midst!)

I promise to try not to gripe about the snow this winter... if I don't like it, I could always move south!

NOT TRUE!!! I guarantee that I can make it rain at a moments notice! I just take out my handy can of Turtle Wax, and walk out to the car, and BOOM! Thunderboomers will always appear.
Also, just schedule a soccer game on a weekend for my son... any weekend, any time. It will pour for hours... but if you cancel the game, even 30 seconds before scheduled start, the clouds will part, and it'll be another Sunny Day...

Lot's of folks must've been washing their cars last week. Our phones are still out even tho other ares of the county got their back. When we were at my folks house last nite they got their electricity back. When it came back on, my mom went YAY & I went Woo-hoo! My dad (he's in his 80's so that makes this funny LOL) said Aw shut up. All the neighbors started call her to tell her their elctricity was up & was hers too. One poor neighbor was still running a generator fearing he'd lost the power again. Things were rough for some of the neighbors. 9 trees feel on one neighbors house & another neighbor lost his job after the hurricane was over with. So they could surely use some vibes. My folks now have all those trees to clean up from their yard. Their condo down at Nags Head Beach will have to have some repairs done due to water damage-- new carpets put in etc. So I am luckier than most. No damage to the house & no phone is such an aggravation...

According to the phone co they won't be fixing our phoens until sometime between tomorrow & the next Tues. YUCK! So hello from the library...

I thought I'd post an update on the after effects of Hurricane Isabel here on the North Carolina Coast...and ask for prayers and a bunch of those fameous Blundervibes for our area.....

First of all, I was one of the extremely lucky ones....I am still living indoors amongst my normal messy piles of stuff.
But, there are miles of Downeast NC lawns piled high with the remains of peoples homes.
Many are only now (in the last 2 days) getting emergency trailors to live in...and are still wondering how they will pick up their lives from here...

Many, many school kids are being shuffled around to different schools, different homes, etc., and in some of the schools, there are rooms set aside for canned food and such that the kids can take home to their families.

Fishermen and women who depend on farming the sea for income have been put on hold because of the nutrient runoff...meaning whenever there is an excess of rain and such, the oysters, clams, etc., absorb the pollution from the land and become poison to eat.

In general, this area is in huge need of prayers.
It would also be very helpful if any of you would take a minute and send a Letter To The Editor at our local newspaper, and let the people know that they have not been forgotten by the rest of the world...that people are holding them in prayer.
