just checking in...

ken has arrived safe and sound in ma...

doris is out of the hospital and set up with hospice...right now she is doing GREAT! she is up and around independently and planning on going in to her office next week to help the new person figure out what's what!

the best part of that scenario is that it's actually a surprise retirement party that is being thrown for her at the office....

ken and i will probably leave ma on saturday morning to be back in la sunday night. his brother took off from work this week to be home with doris and we'll be there monday so she'll have company non stop!

ken was able to switch his vacation and also get family sick leave for his next cycle so he doesnt have to return to work until jan 1, 2003. so that worked out well....his boss is being very helpful through all this.

so i guess what i'm saying here is that things are as good as they can be given the circumstances.

thanks for all the wishes, support, blundervibes etc...

i'll post again when there is 'news'...good, bad or otherwise!

Doris's courage and high spirited attitude is an inspiration and goes to say a lot about the character and personality of this woman.
Thoughts and prayers are with you and Ken.

Thoughts, prayers, blundervibes and good wishes to you and to your family. This is a hard road to travel, but hospice is a wonderful organization. They will amaze you with their thoughtfulness and insights into a difficult time. If you need to talk, I'm here <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

Ken and Sherry,
Yesterday and today probably are one big blur, trying to get everything ready and done before you leave, but pause every now and then to feel the big group hug going your way. Think the last Mary Tyler Moore show...a big blob of Blunderites moving with you everywhere you go. Oh, sorry, don't mean to slow you down...or crowd your car. But we are there.

howdy folks....today's update is quite nice! i just spoke with doris and she and her son were out all afternoon...visiting her office and friends, paying bills and doing 'normal' stuff. she stopped by her house and got some things and is feeling fine.

here's to hoping for more days like today!

thanks for all the love and support and ceas...thanks for the 'visual' of the mtm show.....it was perfect!

(and it would explain all my typos!)

we leave bright and early in the morning...so i probably wont post again until some time on monday...

have a great weekend!

hi folks..there hasnt been much to 'report' but i figured i'd check in.

today wasnt such a great day....doris wasnt falling for the 'reasons' that had been created to try to get her to her office for her surprise retirement party. we finally just had to tell her and she refused to go. she said that she would have refused even if she wasnt sick because she 'hates those things!'...

i guess that's just the way it goes...

nothing else has really changed...so i guess that's a good thing!

i did tell her that a large group of people she didnt even know were keeping good thoughts and she did appreciate that...so thank you from doris...

i guess that's it....for now...

Poor Sherry! So much for the surprise party. Tell Doris that the blundervibes continue (goes for you all).
