You're absolutely right Pat, your sister deserves better. As a nurse of many years, Ive heard so many lame jokes about lazy nurses who dont answer call bells and wake peopleup for sleeping pills, when I know if there is a delay on a call bell, its because of one of your other 6 people are in stress and you can't leave. I hate the generalities too. You were right to say something. (You didnt "start" anything.) I try not to fall into generalities myself... but I guess Im human and I blew it.

The attorney remark was strictly from personal stuff. There's a lot of scars...sorry.

I nearly lost my two kids @ 4 & 7 to their alcoholic drug dependant, abusive father, because of MY lawyers error.

My brother, who is a lawyer, refused (after 5 years of to me begging to him to represent me) because he had "bigger fish to fry". $$$$

And years later, when I owned my company, we had 4 of the top 10 legal firms in NYC as customers (think they'd have some class). THey treated me and my guys like slime. Looked down on us like we were polluting their office.

I do also know a couple of attorneys who work in Brklyn,NY in tiny offices with no A/C that should be sainted for their efforts. It was a bad joke/comment. Please no offense meant. You were right to say it.

RB - Thanks for the backup of Jersey.

PS - See this is why I stay off the boards, I always end up apologizing for something.

Hmmmn ... wasn't there a post only just recently that went something like "Any statement is bound to be wrong when it runs 'All ________ are _______'(fill in the blanks)" That was the gist of it anyway, as I recall, and it still applies. Sorry, Reg, but I know for a fact that Arlo has tons and tons of fans who are also in the legal profession. (Since any audience in the D.C. area is bound to include a fair representation of lawyers, all you have to do is look at the turn-out for Arlo at Wolf Trap and/or the Kennedy Center to get an idea of how many. And that's in the D.C. area alone.)

With all due respect to Shakespeare's wonderful ("First thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers ....") line, and while no one asked me, I'm still going to wonder, "Why draw the line at doctors and lawyers?" I've run into some incredibly horrible people in just about every walk of life I can think of -- as well as running into perfectly delightful people in all of them.

I amm going to qualify that though, since there are so many charming sociopaths running loose. When I say obnoxious vs. delightful, I'm definitely not talking about anyone's ability to charm or persuade. I'm sure that woman in Texas who locked her daughter in a closet had everyone around her believing that she was a decent, hard working woman, whose daughter was a monster in need of a lesson ...

Ooops. My turn to apologize. Sorry Reg: I was making lunch while writing the last post, and your latest hadn't gone up when I started on mine. And believe me, I've run into my fair share of horrible (and wonderful) lawyers, too.

My aforementioned attorney/brother, is an Arlo fan, So I know you are correct. It was a joke - albeit a generally accepted joke, (like blonde jokes or fat jokes) - it was in not in (my usual) charactor and I've already apologized - but I will again if it makes anyone feel any better.

Ok, no one actually needs to apologize for any of this stuff..I don't think. I mean..or else I have to apologize for starting this off, unless I can blame Larry. Sure..I can do that, and he doesn't even mind. Anyway, it's just discussion..doesn't call for anyone to feel bad, I hope.

Blame or credit, it's all the same to those of us that practice selective obliviosity! We don't care! Heap it on me! WOO-HOO!

And yeah, I do know what you mean, Reg. All the way through. Something about posting without enough coffee in me, or too early in my day ...

Confusion? Here? Blunderites blundering? No way! This was all carefully planned and choreographed, I'll have you know.

Next thing you know, someone will be saying that laughing is allowed here. Sheesh.

Don, it was Larry's fault but no real harm done I hope. (Gotta keep an eye on Larry - he's such a trouble-maker )

Regina called the Y for me today, since I wasn't having any luck getting a live person there, calling long distance on my lunch hour. Anyway, they said if you've already bought tickets, they will try to keep your tickets together and will try to seat you in a comparable area in the high school auditorium to where you would have sat in the Y. In about two weeks they will know when tickets will go on sale again. That does not mean tickets will go on sale again in two weeks--just that they will know when they will!

I called the YMHA today and managed to get a live person who had the info about Arlo's concert. The venue has been changed again...back to the YMHA! Tickets will go on sale (if you don't already have yours) this Wednesday, March 6th. If you have trouble getting through to a live person who sells tickets when you call, tell the operator your story, in four part harmony, with feeling, and they'll try to get someone for you. That's what worked for me today!
