It was something to watch for the most part. I did figure out beforehand the final torch lighter, but the whole team thing surprised me! Now, let the games begin!

That bison was/is positively stylin'. Loved them mini-puppet/silhouettes from within. And the moose, too. What a great light show. Wow. Yeah. And what Larry said (about the games, 'cause I was clueless right up until the announcer said who was lighting the torch.

Favorite winter sport. For participation? Ice skating -- mostly because it's what I've had access to (as it were), given the general paucity of snow and ice in my life.
For watching? Oh, gee. That's a tough one. You?

Pardon the vent but I'm sure the flag thing was a whole lot more poignant if you were there. The constant drivel of the announcers was just too inappropriate. I'm sure at least most of the viewers could have lasted the what 70 seconds in silence!
My favorite opening ceremonies ever was the stage coach races put on by Calgary. And the quaintness of the reindeer last time was memorable.

The opening ceremonies were indeed breathtaking. I also enjoyed some of the ski jumping tonight, though admittedly, I don't watch much television anymore.

ken and i were at the olympics and the dead goat saloon...so we had the great pleasure of seeing sarah and johnny and the mammals AND 3 events at the olympics...

we saw the nordic combined ski jumping, the men's downhill and the first 2 rounds of the luge. the weather was absolutely perfect and we had a great time...the gigs were great too!

and although this probably doesnt belong in this thread..we also stopped in taos to visit with charles collins and spent some time with him at his gallery. his work is just amazing!

Yep! Go USA ladies team! The men are pros, so as much as I love the game, and even though I will watch, it won't matter so much to me if they win or lose. Not like 1980, THAT meant something! And the ladies team winning will mean something! I saw the ladies team play Sweden a couple of months ago live....them girls can play!

well, you could root for the underdog Belarus team... as I understand it, they're forging ahead without any pros on the team... gotta love it...

I think Women's figure skating should be nude, gymnastics& swimming events in Summer Games, too.. I don't care what the men do or don't wear

damn sparkydon and the canadians...took the gold..girls got the silver..just couldn't take advantage of all those powerplays?!
