"As the animal got closer and closer to going down, an animal sort of loses its thinking — its ability to rationalize what's in its best interest," Larsen said.

...or perhaps sometimes enough is just plain enough....wonder how we all would do faced with a tranquilizer gun, the whirling blades of a helicopter....a some folks being plain stupid thinking they know what's best for me??...... for one, i hope i would charge it, too... you go, Moose....

From his perspective, I guess the moose did not go silent into that dark night. I hope we don't, either.

of course... there is another perspective to this sad story... Had the damn moose just lain down, he'd be alive to butt somebody's butt yet today! They WERE just tryin' to tranquilize the poor guy. I guess the real question is whether they should have pursued this moose in the first place, considering the precariousness of its location.
