How about a magical glove with the picks built in? You couldn't drop them.
And maybe a magical glove that knows and plays all the chords? Wouldn't need a person at all! The guitar could play itself.

No problem, GM. Here to help... or hinder. I can never tell.

A guitar that knows the songs? Wouldn't that be Guitar Hero?

Just because technology is up to the job doesn't mean the job is up to the requirements.

Good chorus, Larry. As soon as the producer writes a bridge, let's cut it! :P

"Writers of The Song
Writers of The Song
We know we wrote it wrong.
We know it don't belong.
We stole it from The Doors
Let's sell it in the stores!
Writers of The Song..."

Cool. The Kinks. My favorite Davies quote when asked about how to be successful playing rock: "Give 'em what they want." True.

I was playing an all-nighter club in my young years. We were doing the flower child thing when the crowd got ugly. All-nighters are after hours rooms where people who can't get drunk by 2AM go to achieve the perfect state of stone: really. They sit like statues. Fast Eddy Grantland jumped on stage with his drummer, grabbed the mic, and whispered to me, "Man, Len, this ain't a concert. They came to get drunk, get high and get laid. JOHNNY B GOOODE!!" His drummer grabbed the sticks hit the downbeat and the room went... well they woke up.

It hit me right between my third eye. It's about them. Not me.

Here is my song for the season:

LOL. I once lost a pick in the soundhole of my dulcimer. It's good to read all this stuff as it's helping to get my mind kinda off of losing my baby. But he is in my mind 24/7.

Someone posted photos of Arlo in Baton Rouge on the Facebook page. A sort of blurry one seems to be the 12 string y'all were telling me about. Is that the axe?

Hummmm. A guitar that plays itself. It sounds almost like a radio.

Yes, and thanks Guitarman. It's yet another homebrew production.

Religion songs: no, it is a genre I do as a service for my church and because there is a lot of good spiritual music to learn from. Otherwise, everything from folk to rock to jazz. Lately more of those because a) there is a venue and b) there is a need. IOW, as Ray Davies said, "Give them what they want" and as long as I am allowed to keep it within the boundaries of my own social conscience, I'm happy to do it. I started doing spiritual pieces about three years ago when the wife asked for them. My last is a Domine Jesu mass yet to be recorded. The joke is I composed music for my funeral. It's only half a joke. I'm not dead yet but I hate the thought of canned organ music at my last gig.

Go to myspace.com/lenbullard and there are six songs there. There are more at Imeem and a few more at

http://home.hiwaay.net/~cbullard/mp3

Some of those (MooBooBouree and FeeFiFoFum) were written for children's plays. Personally, I enjoy that genre because one can write quirky and innocent, so use all the folkie bits from the days of the Mamas and The Papas as my son says. Sam (for Liz) was a tribute to Liz Montgomery. That one has a video if you look. It gets me the most fan mail and though slow and moody is a personal favorite.

Those are the private stash but you are welcome to download from there. The only thing is they aren't always the latest versions. There are some more written for an adult web site that I don't put on the web so kids won't stumble into them. I've no objection to the material, but as a I said, social responsibilities mean boundaries and we each have to make those decisions for ourselves. So only BadGirls made it out into the public sites because it's lyrically acceptable.

Anyway... this is an Arlo site and I shouldn't be doing shameless plugs, but heck, I am shameless. Apologies if that is out of line.

Len , thanks for sharing your music with us . I listen to a few of your songs ( i am gonna listen to all of them for sure ) and they amazed me . You've got a beautiful voice and there are pretty good lyrics too . I want to say ' woooow ' man , you are doing a good job . I've never heard of you before but thats because i am living in Belgium . ( my language is Dutch ) I struggle to write English and that makes it difficult to talk to the people here . It even lead to misunderstanding sometimes but i doing my best . It happens frequently that i wanna say something but that i cant translate my words in English . Its the music that bring us people together and thats a good thing i guess . Thanks again . :D

Thanks GM. Music is the easiest sharable. No matter how much you give away, there is always more just like love.

Some of those songs are homebrew and some are work from my old band Ground Level Sound. Except for the two or three covers made for friends, they're all mine. The homebrews are me and whatever I can play or sing plus midi tracks (yuk, but I'm an undisciplined orchestration fiend and whaddya gonna do). The GLS numbers are being remastered so we can re-release with better production work. The homebrews are my demos. Since I don't have a real publishing gig other than my own, I let the demos out and come back and work on them as I get better gear or better advice. Amateur but persistent. A man needs his own dog house.

Your English is fine. Waaay better than my Hindi.
