this may be kind of personal (?) i guess? but is really kind of sweet (in my head) !

a little while back i was out doing what i needed to do. ordinarily by now, only occasionally will i have a thrust of anxiety. in the thick of it, never had a support network, while at the same time, being a major source of support to others (not bragging about this, but am a bit perturbed by some instances) . would only ask for any help when absolutely positively necessary, while not wanting to give myself away on the whole at the same time. (if that makes any sense to anyone). (i suppose i will figure out a better way to explain that one eventually…whatever)
so there i am, people out in droves….congregated in a small space, well, a big brick building actually, a wee bit of sensory overload. (this thing did not develop in a fucking vacuum, and that is another story)
anyway, i am about to reach out on the phone to a person, for some casual distraction. i would like to tone down the sensations that i can pretty much hear every single freakin' sound in the whole damn place like it was all at the same volume from the same distance,,,but before i can make a call, i get a call…"hello?" "hey, just want to let you know there has been a black bear sighting in the area, just so you are aware, and don't get caught unawares."

let me tell you, right then and there i felt instantly calmed (i don't know!) not that i felt cocky for one second. not that i would race up to a random black bear like i was all that. but i felt immediately better. for whatever reason. i don't know.

i decided i would turn to a lady nearby, whether it was because of my own sense of relief and calm, that i might be feeling congenial? i tell her about the bear sighting and her voice reaches a bit of a high pitch, and i am like, '"shhhh…it is okay. just so you know, and are aware, but most likely in this environment, it will be as apprehensive as any of us" (?)

anyway, the thought of the bear comforted me. (?)

is that weird? i don't know

i actually like to occasionally read cookbooks, they inspire me to want to make something good to eat and i have a few really fun books

this is great, and a classic recipe. of course, you can tweak it any way you like. but man, the mortar and pestle. i got a complimentary mortar and pestle years ago with a mail order of tea. love it. (of course, i would probably use my cast iron pan to toast the nuts…i have never actually toasted the nuts before!)

Still in a funk over Bowie. The more I play, the more I remember I used to listen to and forgot about.

I don't even remember if this was a song I knew, even though I feel very familiar with it. My dear ex husband sent this to me 2 nights ago. I can't stop playing it. One version or another but I love the live ones much more.

And this one that he sent me.

Let's Dance went through my mind all the while I was sleeping and of course, I had to play it several times after I got up. Love that song a lot.

I also love is duets with Tina Turner.

Tonight...

I find recipes online. I have so many old cookbooks and I had the greatest seafood cookbook that belonged to my mother. It was more like a booklet and was titled with the word Sportsman's in the title. Somehow, over one of my moves, it was lost.

She had another one that she used to make some pretty unique candy from, all hand rolled and well, just cool. There was one that was a chocolate filling, sorta with the texture of fresh raw dough or very thick icing, then rolled in a white mixture. It was called Black Eyed Susans. That cookbook was also lost in the moves. I wonder if I can find that recipe online? That would be something to have again.

I rely, heavily, on old fashioned family hand-me-down recipes from my childhood. Teaching most of that to my son, now, as he is quite the chef and loves cooking plus videoing his work and putting it on youtube, complete with music. Looks like commercials. LOLOL!
