SoCal was land of Van De Kamps potato chips, and Laura Schudders' or, was she everywhere, some bakery? foundery? what do you call a chip place? a chip factory...?..actually sold chips, w/ a little pouch baked in, to hold quacamole... didn't last long though, can't imagine what else folks put, in the pouch...

OK, here's one of the universe's greater mysteries: As we all know, Coke and Pepsi taste slightly different. Right? Well, if and when you ever go to Mexico, get Coke if you like American Pepsi, and Pepsi if you prefer American Coke. Don't know why, but the flavors are exactly the same down there -- but reversed. Go figure.

Potato chips? I can never remember which brand it is that I like so much, but I do know there's one that stands head and shoulders above the rest, in my taste buds' opinion. I know it when I taste it, though.

Also the Mexican version of Squirt (the soft drink/soda pop) is much better than the US version...

On my son's 2nd grade field trip to Herr's food factory the kids wanted to know if they could have the chips that missed the bags and landed on the floor(after kissing them up to God, of course). We were told that they actually sweep them up and feed them to the cows. If they eat the sour cream and onion ones will they get mad cow didease?

I guess they just need the onion and the cows can make their own sour cream? MOOOO.

indeed, cheryl: squirt in mexico is tasty. i was incredibly disappointed when i tried american squirt for the fist time. but then, especially up until nafta, there were all kinds of those little (not so pleasant, either) surprises, since export and import were so severely restricted. the whole local franchise idea only works but so well when the ingredients are entirely different (and/or used in widely differing proportions).
