Love that James Taylor song. Love this line in the song:

Won't you look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way

Cheryl , just a little known fact .JT wrote that song in Stockbridge .After a girl he was seeing past away at this hospital . He sat outside under a tree out front and wrote it in about 20 mins.

dunno how all together accurate that is, but i did find it interesting to find out that he wrote that song when he was twenty. a collection of sad, and anxious circumstances as i understand it, laid out in an incredibly beautiful way through that song. though it is sad

i tell you i didn't know a thing about it. but since it came up here i became curious to get a more complete picture, and came across a few articles. among them was this one. convenient enough to retrieve. you'll see the option to listen to the interview as well as read it.

Good article Thanks .
""Up at Austin Riggs in Stockbridge. Yeah. It was—that is not a very—that's not so much a specific one, it's just sort of—I don't know what—kind of generally introspective kind of verse, I guess."

....this is what I think he was referring to when he told Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America during a campaign trip for Obama in New England .I thought it was on the video ...I'll keep looking.

thank you Cheryl, I like the monkees. both clips were great for different reasons. when I watch them it always takes
me back to the living room where I grew up, laying on the floor in front of the t.v. head resting in my bent arms.

good night everyone.

I'm a huge fan. They've been my boys for many yrs. :)

G1, enjoyed the james taylor information and whistle stop video. hallelujah (bon jovi) & meatloaf, awesome....

agnes, on willows and birches, I seem to remember that awhile back. as there are willows in this area, there are none where I live. in Chicago i lived on a street named birchwood. my landlord said when he bought the building there were birchwood trees lining the street. they were all killed by some type of blight. so this musical piece brings several memories to mind. it's a beautiful harp concerto, thank you.

cover song

something a little different that was posted on another site. for me, it puts life into a different perspective. i hope you all like it.

janice, i did post that one before (willows and birches)

G1, about the song fire and rain: what you said up there initially, intrigued me enough to want to try and see better the whole picture.

anyways: happy new year around the world!

all together now

i'm making the traditional southern new year's eve day "good luck" dinner. black eyed peas, rice, greens, very lean ham (supposed to use ham hock, ick). i should top the meal off with corn bread, not sure if i'm going to make that yet. btw. i've been making this dinner since the 80's no super good luck yet. i hate to think what would happen if i didn't, lol. i probably should try the ham hock and hold my nose while chocking it down, i just can't bring myself to do it.

anyone else out there have a new years day food tradition?

my best wishes for a healthy and happy new year to arlo and family, the stage crew, church crew, RSR crew and all of us who love the Guthrie's, their music and their lifelong message of peace and love.

thank you
