sorry about that, i think i was trying to bum-rush my brain!? (i want to confess i have been in a bit of a funk lateley, but i also admit that my methods of dealing may not be proven to be sound? but i ask everyone here to try and understand)
it is hard to explain the train of thought that brought me to that clip for halloween. i will just jump quickly to the subject of the election though which i know is on people's minds everywhere, mine too! and i want to say how much i appreciate all of the posts here about that while i try to make the most sense of it all...psb, you already know how much i value your thoughts on things, and captain zap said some things, and ceashel, and arnie, well i can't name everyone! but i learn a lot here!
but anyway,,,here is where it gets a little goofy i guess...while trudging through the fog.... recently i found one of those selenite spheres and got one, it is a natural mineral that when polished has this interesting cat's eye effect and i put it on one of those light boxes with the moving changing colors and i started thinking of one of those futuristic type forms of intelegence you know like with the deep stilted voice, "...from before 10,000 yrs before your planet was formed i have awaited a question..." or something like that...anyway the point is i needed to allow my thoughts to wander elsewhere and while it was wandering back i found myself remembering that it is halloween...so with futuristic voices echoing in my mind i went looking for something that might fit that i could share here...i found nothing i was looking for but stumbled across the dr. smith/ robot clip of all things...i think jonathan harris was having way too much fun in that role as dr. smith! i mean, "a clod-like collection of condensors constantly underfoot cackling!" ?
maybe it is a pragmatic way of looking at it, but with some of that stuff he did make you want to keep a dictionary handy!
anyway, i appreciate that i can come here and say things (a bumbling blithering blatherskite forging through the fog) ?

Ahhhh, but agnes, are we all not "Lost in Space"? Maybe some of us more than others. I still will never understand why the Robinsons and Don West didn't just maroon Dr. Smith somewhere! I think he was kinda very George W. Bush-like before his time.
And any "Lost in Space" episode may be an appropriate Halloween thing, cuz all the aliens and monsters looked like they bought their costumes at K-Mart.

Yeah, "Lost in Space" always had the cheesy monsters...and the "outdoor" shots on different planets where the wind never blew and the rocks bounced. I remember one episode where Michael J. Pollard was the monster of the week...and they didn't have to put him in any costume.
Dr. Smith was always so grumpy...and I'm surprised he never got left somewhere "accidently". It must have been tempting.

For sure! I'm also surprised that the Robinsons left him alone with the kids all the time! Maybe they don't have a Meagan's list in outer space?

I was out with people searching for the dreaded giant spirochete once...well...I was out looking for extreme halophiles...salt loving microbes...on the salt fork of the Arkansas River up somewhere in the great American desert...I was young and insane....we hiked out on the salt flats there where the southern plains indians used to collect salt and looked for microbes...it was barren as hell and the salt grass was at least 80 yards behind us....and we were diging into the lick and all we hit was purple crystals...just under the surface...a sea of deep purple crystal....SELENITE....back when I was a kid and was going to be a geomicrobiologist and save the world...you know...I am from outer space....it is just a matter of perspective! Just a boy from that blue planet, spinnin out in space, I wonder and I fumble, and realize its just a place, I dream and I metabolize until all my stuff has aged, my heart is just a pump and my soul....just imagination

i have never seen purple selenite! i wonder if it was halite...well i guess maybe they are closely related?? i skimmed through those links and...well something lead me someplace else where i read that some microbes out there might be good for degrading nuclear waste as well! well help anyway...pretty cool!

It was pretty brittle and that salt flat was full of borates and copper but we had a buckett full of it an dthere was a sea of it just under the crust.
