Thanks for the setlist from the Durham NC show. Make for a nice memory. Hope he comes back to this end of the universe soon.. Traveling far is a big thing for me with a house full of strya dogs and every now and then a few stray kids.

I saw my first Arlo concert last night in Berkeley CA. It was a blast! The time just flew by. Arlo is so gifted and funny that all by himself on stage, he could have done hours and hours of entertainment without a back up band or anything else. He is who I went to see, and he was everything I needed or wanted. This is going into the "greatest memories in my life" file. One of my favorite Arlo songs is "In my Darkest Hour" and it was wonderful to here the story behind it! I was also delighted with the story behind "City of New Orleans". I had not heard that story before. I absolutely love the way he stops in the middle of a song to say something important and he even remembers exactly where he left off. I watched it all through a pair of binoculars. He is still as sexy and cute as a bug as he ever was!

I'm an old hippie raised by an even older hippie and I sound like a girl with a teenage crush! Wait a miniute, I am actually an old hippie who does have a teenage crush on Arlo Guthrie! OMG! I am going to put his tour poster up in my bed room.

(Now that I think about it, my husband sounds like a girl with a teenage crush too. You should of heard him going on about it to his brother. He was talking on the phone in the back yard, but I could hear him through the bathroom window and he wants Arlo's poster up in our bedroom too. Hmmm....)

I had gone to San Fransisco to see a doctor, and Berkeley is on our way home. So my husband and I were so very excited to find out we would be near there on just the right day! We only got lost about 4 times and wasted about 5 hours trying to find our way to the hall in Berkeley following the directions from Yahoo. Fortunately, my appointment was finished by 11am so we had time for the adventure. We got to cross the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge twice, and for only 5 dollars a pop!

Arlo did Alice's Restaurant, The Pickle Song, Flying into Los Angeles and other old favorites. I can't think of anything he skipped that I was disappointed not to hear. We all sang along with Woody's This Land is Your Land and My Peace. He did some newer ones like In Times Like These and When a Soldier Makes it Home. He did some rag time on his guitar, which was quite impressive. He has a very cool cobalt blue guitar we'd never seen the like of.

We are already talking about when he comes back out here again.

While we were gone overnight for the trip my DVD of Alice's Restaurant arrived in the mail. We didn't get home until 1am, but I stayed up and watched it anyway.

Well, I could probably go on for hours about Arlo, ("I'm not proud....or tired") but this old lady needs to take her medicine on time and go to bed because she has to work tomorrow.

Glad you & your husband enjoyed. He does do a great show. Now you have to hear those songs at the church some time. Sounds totally different and mystically better.

Don't feel weird about the poster, most of us have more photos of Arlo hanging in our houses than those of our relatives. Esp. us with JC being the numero uno amateur-still photographer (theres a 1st in charge prof. photog and a really excellent video duo out there too!) Between Arlo and my Disney stuff, it looks like we have a dozen kids in the house when its only us two (kids).

Primula, our wind chimes here in are ringing up a storm. I've heard somewhere that when wind chimes ring, it means that a Blunderite has got his/her wings. From the adventure you had--getting lost, all through the end of the evening, I think they're ringing for you. What a classic Blunderite adventure! Warning--I think you're hooked. Can't wait to meet you at a gig!

Sounds like a great time. Glad you got to go see him. I too have an Arlo poster & some pics of him in our bedroom. And some posters & pics of him in our den. He's like family to Mike & I...

And Reg, I am so glad we won't be the only one's with Arlo in our bedroom. It sounds like you have an incredible collection of pictures! I'm am green with envy. My husband has been collecting and stashing away a lot of cool stuff from the Fillmore in the 60's and who knows what else. He's been at it for years. He even bought me a Woodstock Ticket signed by Country Joe for my birthday once 'cause he really wanted it. Time to break out the stash and start hanging it on the walls. Now he has to help me find as much Arlo stuff as he can. I have grand plans for my kitchen and dining room in my head.

How do I find the video? Tonight I watched my Alice's Restaurant DVD with Arlo's commentary added. What fun!

Maybe someday we really can hear Arlo at the church. I would love being in a spiritual setting to hear Arlo play. Maybe it sounds corny, but watching all the wonderful stuff Mrs. Guth3 has put up on youtube has really recharged my love for serving others. It doesn't seem so impossible that the world could be a better place when you know so many other people are out there working on the same dream. It's a long way to travel and Gus, my husband, doesn't like to fly, and well, there's always that money thing. But if anyone wants to send out some blundervibes that there will be some way provided so that we could make the "pilgrimage" I would be truly grateful. I would really like to meet as many of you as I possibly can.

By the way, Arlo said his new blue guitar can play under water. Hee! Hee! I would love to see a demonstration of that!

Primula, Not corny at all. We all come out of that church fully recharged and ready to change the world. Sometimes we get that feeling from his (and Pete's) regular gigs too...I find any live music to be revitalizing to be honest. But, along with Arlo, the group of people that enjoy Arlo, his family, music, (his antics) as well as his view and resolve to help the world are very inspiring.

Don't like to fly? Try Amtrak (that is a biased but truthful endorsement) LOL!!! If you send me your address (personal message please), I will see what I have around in our archives that you might enjoy.

How do you cross both the bay bridge and Golden one twice on your way to Oakland or Berkley from San Fran? That sounds like the big left around San Jose, I ended up taking south of the Golden Bridge, than seeing a sign for Vallejo or Benicia. While I was heading for Santa Barbara. I said "how did I get here?"

Primula--I have photos of Arlo and his family all over my house! (You can see a couple of them every time you visit this site. Of the 3 photos on the top of the home page, the middle one and the one on the right are mine). Go wild with posters!
