Is there no one who saw the Colonial Theatre, Keene, NH show? This is an awesome venue, small NE theatre, intimate, no bad seat.

New to Arlo Net I must say it is a delight to see so much interest in the music, the man and the family that so powerfully shapes the music scene without glitz, glamour or gawdiness. What is communicated from Arlo, the children, the grandchildren and Woody himself (AMAZING RECORDING) stands as a testament to the endurance of Spirit, Creativity and, yes, even faith, in a world still hard of heart and brittle of mind. May the rabbits abound!

And thank you Arlo and Family for perseverance, GOOD humor and the joy of music. I was refreshed for the next stretch of the road!

Peace

Sounds like a great show. I'm guessing by your name that you're a preacher. That's cool. Our churches preacher & the last preacher we had before him both like Arlo. Then again they both like Inna Gadda Davidda by Iron Butterfly. I dunno why but that one seems to be popular with preachers. Both that & Alices have the distinction of being the first 2 songs ever put out where one whole side of the album was one song. Welcome to the site... :)

anyone remember the Simpsons episode where the family went to church
and Bart switched the hymn lyric sheets and replaced them with the
music and lyrics to "inna godda da vida" ?
the whole congregation was singing it
hilarious ...

I would like to be here more but I will check in when I can. Thanks for the welcome Cheryl. Yup. I am a preacher...been so for a very long time. United Church of Christ. And while I saw Iron Butterfly in the day I must say I would never put them on par with Arlo. Been lisnin to him and pete, the roaches, bonnie raite, and dylan and a whole slew of others for years. IN fact, we saw dylan (in boston) two weeks before arlo, then bo didley (in keene) one week before! They are all my inspiration.

Also, I haven't had a tv since 1992. Don't miss it and never will. Have seen the simpsons, even had a guy do a presentation with some college youth on the theological implications of simpsons. He showed a number of topically religious episodes and used a book some guy wrote on interpreting these shows. It was great. Didn't see one on Iron Butterfly tho!

I did see a movie tonight with my son and his partner called "Jesus Church"--- one of the most frightening documentaries I've seen. All I can say is give me old Trinity Church and Alice's Restaurant any day. I do not know what has become of the christians. The movie almost makes me ashamed--- but then I think it would Jesus too.

Peace (Please!)
Bill

That's neat there's a preacher on here. I just knew he'd like Iron Butterfly lol. We've been to Church of Christ before a few times. Mikes late Aunt from KY belonged to one & went with her a few times. My friend Debbie is friends with an older couple who go to a Church of Christ. Once we went with her to the Church of Christ her friends go to to go to a Wed nite service. They had dinner for $5 before the service. It was nice. They had the dinner & then a Bible study. That movie sounds interesting...

Thank you Terri.

Cheryl---it is the United Church of Christ www.ucc.org ---VERY different from the Church of Christ.

Hey---is anyone excited about Dennnis Kucinich running for president? He is amazing. Check him out at http://kucinich.us/

We just sent our son off to Zimbabwe, Africa for three months. The UCC in NH has partnered with the UCC in Zimbabwe (a very difficult place right now). My son met a Zimbabwean friend of mine visiting at a UCC summer camp in NH. He invited Silas to come to his wedding and stay for as long as he would like. That was Silas's ticket to defer acceptance to college for the fall and embark upon this journey. He worked and saved and paved the way. He will then meet up with friends in South America for two months. An amazing young man and an amazing journey! ( a bit of parent angst tho!!!!)

Now, I suppose I should not be sharing that in THIS forum but that's where I am at tonight. Good night all.

Peace,
Bill
