The show lasted 1,5 hours on TV, so they must have cut it short cause I think the whole evening lasted a few hours. All the performers were only seen for one recital and Arlo did "City of New Orleans". Wish I could have seen more of him.

I was lurking on amazon.com to see if the 1968 With Tom Brokaw special will be released on DVD and is now available for pre-order YIPPIE! DVD will be released in February 2008. BTW I checked imdb.com and Arlo will be on the program

Tom Brokaw is doing a book tour for his new book 'Boom - Voices of the 60's' Arlo is on the cover and referenced in the book. I've got a ticket to go see him on Thurs and will report back how it was.

i found it to be an interesting piece, and liked the way, Brokaw kept going back to the musicians for thier take.... Arlo it seemed, got the last word, as far as musicians go. Which I felt, was well deserved....

I loved the way ag describes smoking weeds, as less harmfull than booze ect... But admitted his attitude has changed over the yrs. and enjoys a good whiskey...

I'm waiting either for my next decade birthday, or getting off probation. Which ever comes first. And am contemplating trading in all my pain pills, for a 12 yr. old scotch.....

very ignorant, or maybe jealous of the lovely Michelle Phylups ( sp ck ) who it was in her opinion, she enjoyed drugs, grew with them, and really had no problem... ( she did say earlier in the interview, THANK GOD there wasn't any cocaine in that era )

But for softer drugs, NO ONE can blame parents, if they're spouse, or kids get hooked, and land in rehabs.... That is pure poppy cock.....

My drug councilor, insist my youngest sons drug problems, as my probation officer agrees, lay in my hands... That it is my fault he turned to drugs...

I NEVER hid anything from either of my two boys... My oldest son, now a proud father, with a blue collar job, has NEVER done drugs... He was always into sports, ect, and even tho his friends smoked, he never wavered, as he wanted to be differant from 'the in crowd' so to speak...

Yes my youngest son ( 20 yrs old ) is in rehab, for his second stint, and hopefully he will get some help.... But I will never blame myself for him using drugs... Crack wasn't around when I was using.... either were Oxy cotten or Vicodans for that matter. When he turned 18, I let him live his own life. HELL, when he was 15 or 16 I let him do what he wanted, as he wouldn't of listened to me anyhow..... But I never abused opiates, or used meth, or crack or cocaine.... Cocaine in my opinion went out in the 80's and my youngest son was born in 1987....

Grass isnt' a gateway drug.... Alcohal is..... and you can get that at the corner store.....

Besides, I never met a drug councilor yet, that wasn't a dried up alcy, themselves, most of which are now closet drinkers (smokers) that think there shit doesn't stink, because they have a two yr. degree, that makes them a drug councillor....

What bull shit... they love trying to lay a guilt trip on parents, and I think, as previously mentioned, it's all poppy cock...

I believe, if my son, wasnt' in drug court, and could use grass he'd be better off. Now he drinks and partys... ( he's twenty yrs. old, and I refuse to tell him how to live his life)

Society, the teachers, the shrinks, all pushed heavy duty amphetamines down his throat, starting when he was 9, for ADD... My son quit taking speed when he turned 16, as he felt grass helped him more... ntm" he said taking bi=amphetimine 20's X 3 a day, turned him into someone he wasn't. And by quiting the meds, he was himself.... Good, bad, or ugly... I didn't agree, but don't feel grass is any worse, than the speed, they give those kids.... * for adhd....

It's not your fault about your son on drugs. Peer pressure can cause folks to do stuff like that. I enjoyed Arlo on the Tom Brokaw thing. Missed the re-airing cuz I didn't see this topic till now...

I saw part of that interview with Tom Brokaw. I think Arlo handled himself really well, especially since TB didn't let Arlo finish what he was saying before he shot another question at him. I mean ReallY if you're going to ask someone a question at least let them answer!

Yesterday Mike & I went to the pharmacy at the hospital in Richmond. On the way there while in Richmond, we saw Ron Pauls bus go by. Right after that the dj on 107.3 the oldies channel in Richmond had a contest. He asked what thing were women buying more now than before. The lady who called up said cars & he said no it wasn't quite that but something similar & try again. So she said motorcycles & he said she got it & was the winner. The dj mentioned Arlo saying that in Alices Restaurant Arlo sang about motorcycles. He said in the movie of Alice's it had motorcycles in it. Pretty neat to hear Arlo mentioned on the radio...

Yeah Cheryl H. I know what you mean. I always love, calling somewhere where they put you on hold, to music. A couple of times, I got to listen to part of CONO, for the better part of two minutes. It's times like that, a person doesn't mind the wait.
