Hi,

I've struck out finding this so far.. but it seems a few changed hands last year.. I'm hoping someone would be willing to burn a copy for me...

Let me know what I need to do...

I've had these songs going through my head since first seeing this when it first aired so long ago.. didn't have a recorder back then though.. :)

If you have high speed transfer we could even do an FTP ??

Here's hoping!

Someone did send me a DVD of this concert, however it wasn't complete.. almost, but missing the song "Guabi, Guabi", and wouldn't you know, that was the one that I was really looking forward to.. seems like a couple of others got edited out also, but, it was a very enjoyable 2 hrs. to watch again.

Thanks!!! big time.

After working on the DVD I was sent, I got a solid, clean copy, the video quality is no better than the original VHS it was transferred from, but it does play smoothly now...

It is slightly different than the show that aired in the Chicago area back in '78, but it is still quite good.

If anyone has a complete show, I would love to have it... the song I am very interested in is called "Guabi, Guabi"... and it is missing on this copy.

Here's the playlist of the DVD I have, some titles I'm guessing at... but here it is:

running time: 1:53.40

Midnight Special
Pigtown Fling (bango instrumental)
Get Up & Go
Where Have All The Flowers Gone?
Sailing Down My Golden River
Little Beggarman (?not sure of title)
Ground Hog
I'm Gonna Be An Engineer
Seabrook CLAMS (?not sure of title)
I've Just Seen A Face
Tzena, Tzena
Guabi, Guabi (not here)
Sicilian Tarentela? (picolo instrumental)
Flute piece (china - The White Haired Girl)
Freight Train
Way Out There

Intermission:

When The Master Returns (?not sure of title)
Because All Men Are Brothers
City Of New Orleans
Ballad of the Union Man (Harry Simms)
Garden Song (inch by inch)
Garbage
If I Had A Hammer
All Over This World
St. Louis Tickle
Maple Syrup Time
Lonesome Valley
Amazing Grace

Encores:

Precious Friend
This Land Is Your Land
The Hobo's Lullaby

I would be willing to make a few copies if anyone else still wants this show. send your requests via the email button.

Gary, i've been wanting a copy of that video for 20 years. Would you believe, i had just gotten a Betamax when that aired and it was one of the first things I recorded on it! But i didn't get the whole thing because it was being shown as a PBS special with the long fundraising intermission and of course Betas were only 2 hours long :). Since then, I duped it to VHS. and from VHS, to .mpg (audio) and have it on my player - what I have of it, anyway. but the visuals on that concert were so good. It's still, IMO, the best Guthrie Seeger concert EVER. Please e-mail me, donna@kanabay.com, and I'd lovelovelove to buy a copy of the DVD from you. I want to give it to my sister. Arlo's a Bonding thing with us. She'll be so thrilled!

Welcome to the family Gary! Ditto for me what Donna wrote---I'm definitly interested in a copy. I didn't see an email button for you, did you mean 'private message'? Anyway, whatever it takes. My email is nortonkevin@yahoo.com if that helps. I'm going out of the country this weekend until early December, so I hope we'll have time to set something up. I've been wanting that concert in my library ever since I first watched it (like you, on PBS). You having a copy of it is extremely blunderful news! Multitudes of thanks, Kevin

Hi, Kevin, thanks. But I'm afeared we're out of luck. I just looked at the date of Gary's post and it was a year ago :(.

Drats! I suppose it would be a good thing for me to check little things like dates now and then.....I guess I could blame it on age, but that would be pure denial.....
