You mean Arlo in the hospital singin' to Woody, with Pete Seeger?

Take me for a ride in the car car
Take me for a ride in the car car
Take me for a ride in the car car
Ridin' in the car

Horn goes beep beep.......
etc

Engine goes brrrrrrrrr brrrrrrrrrrrr...........
etc

I wanna sit in the front seat
I wanna sit in the back seat
Front seat back seat
Ridin' in the car.

Well that's my 32cents worth version anyway. If you were here I could sing it to you....with feelin'.

no, im talking about the scene with arlo and roger jamming in arlo's room. The landlord comes in and Arlo hides his stash and what not. I want to learn how to play it but I let my friend borrow the DVD. Im asking if its an actual song that I can find somewhere or if its just a jam for the movie. Hes playing the kazoo, so theres no lyrics.

That was a cool song. I have no idea what it was called or how to play it. Maybe Arlo can come in here & give more info. Hello Arlo... :)

The Café Harris Rag is on the sound track CD from the film Alice's Restaurant.

Oh.........THAT bedroom jam........yeah cool
Though my favourite song from the movie (except for Alice's of course) is Songs for ageing children....
And that funeral scene is the most beautiful, sad, moving I've ever seen in a movie or real life.

Everyone STILL is under the illusion that Joni is singing the song. It was actually performed by Tigger Outlaw (Geoff Outlaw plays Roger in the movie - Roger's character is was played by Rick Robbins in real life).

right on. She (Mrs. Outlaw) has a gorgeous set of pipes! Do you know if she did anything further with her talent after the film?

...well, i can help you a bit with Tigger's career, at least in the last few years....i met her a few years back (not thru the Guthrie center) so i don't know what she pursued right after Alice's......but she was in a group called
"After the Silence" with a few mostly Berkshire musicians (Steve Ide, formerly of Shenandoah)....they did some performances.....but it was not anyone's day job.....they put out one CD called "Live will get you 10" a great collection of jazzy, bluesy pieces from their live performances.....and a one song recording after 9/11.... a very moving piece....

Tigger's voice is still remarkable and this group was great, in my opinion.... i think they enjoyed playing again, but had trouble fitting the gigs in with their work and family schedules....so as far as i know, they aren't playing anymore....however, i will check on that and if they are i will post it.....

....and she and Geoff Outlaw did go their own ways some time ago...and she is remarried....

;)

Yes,..... the movie.

I've always had this burning question about the movie. :?

..... They couldn't find an actor to play the role of Fasha the dog?

What's up with that???

I'm sure most of you know that Arlo had some differences with the company that distributes the DVD of the movie...

... so I was surprised this weekend to come into the Church, and find the DVD playing on the TV in the front room before the show. As I was working, when I had a chance I caught a few bits and pieces... there is some great commentary about how the movie was made.

When I had the chance, I asked Arlo about it, and he said that there's no point in fighting them any more. I don't think we have to feel guilty about wanting/buying that DVD now... it does have stuff that's not on the VHS version, and I don't think Arlo wants to deprive us of that!

Thanks Arlo!

Thanks, Wyld. While it's not an endorsement, I'm glad Arlo's ok with us buying it. I enjoyed what I managed to hear and look forward to hearing what else Arlo had to say on the DVD. Michael even mentioned it on our long drive home.
