My girlfriend and I went to Vermont for my best friends wedding on Wednesday. The following day we went to visit some friends of hers in Cape Cod. I figured, while we were in Mass, why not try and find the Guthrie Center? Sadly, tickets for Arlo's show were sold out and even if we could have gotten them, my girlfriend had to be home for work so there's no way we would have been able to attend. At least I got to see the church in person.

Thanks for posting the pics. Sue's flowers look so nice. So sorry you didn't get to go to the show. Hope ya got to see some blunderites. You saw more than I have as I have never been to the church. I think I might've seen it the time we went to Stockbridge yrs ago while riding by in the car. I recognized it in the movie. Back then I wasn't into Arlo yet. Glad ya had a good trip.

Bill--I think I saw you drive up. I was out on the deck, but then went back in. (I'm not the person on the ramp in your photo; I was under one of the umbrellas). I thought you were a volunteer arriving to help, or I'd have come down and said something. Next time, try the door--if it's unlocked, there's a good chance that George wouldn't mind if you came in. At least, it never hurts to ask. Now that you know how to get there, and you live so close (relatively speaking), maybe you can get there for a Thursday-night hoot or a show sometime! Yea!

When I got out of the car, there was a woman outside who looked like she was tending to flowers. My girlfriend and I started taking pictures and a gentleman with dark hair came out and asked if we were there for the show. I told him no and he commented on my Arlo T-shirt I happened to be wearing (completely coincidental) but before I could say anything else someone in a pickup pulled up and his attention was taken elsewhere. I thought about trying the door, but I wasn't sure what the reaction might be since everyone there seemed so busy prepping for the nights events. We only stayed for a few minutes to take some pics and were on our way.

What is a Thursday-night Hoot? Sounds like it could be fun. I wish the Guthrie Center website had a little more info on it...

That would have been Sue. She brings and arranges the flowers as a HUGE volunteer project. Probably the other one was George (director of the GC). The Website is a work in progress; George assured me that it should be more complete soon. In the meantime, just ask around here or call the GC if you have questions. The hoots are on Thursday night. Whoever wants to show up and play does, and whoever wants to show up as an audient pays a minimal fee for a very nice evening. This is NOT a Guthrie-attended event.

That sounds like fun. I think I may have to get up there some night. Unfortunately, no one wants to hear me play guitar but I have been known to sing a tune or two. ;-)

You can do whatever you want a the Hoot...sing, play an instrument, recite poetry. It's all good!

Nice! I've got some poetry I wouldn't mind sharing. I'm definitely going to have to get up there some time!
