we saw you last year at the manship theater and i do not mean this a criticism at all to YOU but it seemed like those stuffed shirts in the front few rows (the place is tiny so i know why you're there 2 nights) brought us down a bit. i don't know if it was my imagination but the fact that they weren't laughing with tears coming out of their eyes like all audiences the other 8 times i've seen you through the years was a bummer. it's like they only came because they had corporate tickets. my husband works for one of the corporations that will have 5 there tonight through corporate tickets but we got ours 8-9 months ago when you had to buy tickets to 3 events so we got fantastic seats. and if someone after the show asks you if you remember a post months ago asking you what you thought of bruce springstein's words on your dad's "this land is your land' and your almost cryptic reply to me that what is true for the boss is true for him, well, that's me that asked...lol you have never done one of my favorite songs though - cowboy song!

and i wish i could make the sidebar say "rejoined feb 2008"!

Yeah, Ive noticed some stuffed shirts at some of his shows & wondered why they were there. And uppity looking people dressed semi hippie. Like moneyed chicks wearing hippie type skirts made of velvet with high heels go figure. Hopefully Arlo will rub off on them...

the concert was even better than last year at the same venue! and not many stuffed shirts...lol and last year during his show he mentioned that there were a few days until their next show so they were thinking about heading up to the shreveport, LA area (about 250 from baton rouge) to find leadbelly's grave and last night, he told about them doing it so it was great to hear the outcome of something he had said the year before! and we got to hear a new story when he played coming into los angeles about woodstock and not about the narc that stands on the runway sniffing planes as they land (although i love that story...lol) and the woodstock story was funny and i think he did tell part of it during the song last year but i also know he DID tell the plane-sniffing narc story last year too. one thing he didn't mention when he told the true story about the man who was cleaning his m/c inside and had the paramedics called twice and it was the same ones who picked him up both times was that is IS a true story. last year when he was here, it had actually happened very recently because my husband and i both remembered hearing it and i always pay attention to m/c stories because i ride my own (nothing fancy - just a small yamaha virago cruiser that's "just my size" - i'm 5'2"). we were sitting right in front of the sound "room" and so arlo was directly in front of us and it's such a small venue that there are truly no bad seats. as we left in the pouring rain, i sighed and said it will be at least another year until i see arlo again! it was my 9th or 10th time - memory not so good anymore!

Ebbette--I'm sorry we didn't know you were there, so we could have met--we went down from Dallas, and John C and RegFaith came all the way from the New Jersey/New York area. (We just got home this afternoon.) It was our first time at the Manship. It's a great little theater! We were on the first row, fighting the good fight against stuffed-shirt syndrome.

i saw you then...lol it's such a wonderfully small place that you can see everyone from everywhere! unfortunately, we were parked across from the planetarium in front of the old state capitol (that castle looking building) and we got soaking wet running back to the car! my husband had called me in the early afternoon to tell me a group from main headquarters of the chemical plant where he works was going (we were very close to that headquarter building at the manship and the company is one of the manship corporate sponsors) so i was busy trying to pick out the "corporate people" - had no luck - and as soon as we got back home, my husband got called out to work (he's an instrument tech) so he spend the night on the job which isn't as bad as it sounds because he slept most of the time and got OT for it.

oh, and if you saw 2 people wearing lsu t-shirts, that was us. i don't think i saw anyone else wearing them.

JohnC and I were on the right in the first row, we were the guys with cameras. JohnC came up to the first balcony for the encore and final bow. He is friends with the guy that was on the soundboard.

i know i saw you then because i remarked to my husband - look, THEY have a camera... - lol we were sitting 3 seats over to the left of the sound board and my hair is long and we were sitting to the left of 2 guys in suits who politely clapped a few times but when city of new orleans was done, the one next to me made me jump because by that time, i wasn't expecting him to yell anything...lol we were sitting right in front of some box thing that hung out over the floor seats and in front of the little room with glass on front that had something in it that had a picture of our mayor on it. i had my camera in my purse and i could have gotten some great close-up pics! instead i only took 2 at the end with my iPhone and they make arlo look farther away than he actually was.
