I am really sorry for you. Hope this gets solved and maybe there is a chance for the Festival another time. Turkey needs to get more open to the western world.

Maybe next year the festival will happen again. You're right - Turkey needs to lighten up.

From the article:

"The greatest danger to Turkish democracy will not be Turkish military intervention, but rather well-meaning but naïve interference by U.S. diplomats seeking stability and downplaying the Islamist threat."

Sounds like if the balance is tipped, it will be our meddling that does it. (sound of teeth grinding)

At present Arlo is not performing in June 2007 so if anyone in the UK or Eire know any music promoters get on to them so we can see our favourite folkslinger in our wonderful country again, there are many people eager to see him again following the amazing concerts of last summer

There are still no concerts on the schedule for June 07 are there any plans for any UK or European concerts or can we plan our holidays for the States and catch an Arlo concert over there.

Regards Brian and Rosie

It's Konstantin Wecker's birthday show at the Circus Krone in Munich. Tickets can be purchased under Münchenticket Tel. 089-54 81 81 81 (from outside of Germany dial 004989- 54 81 81 81)or http://www.muenchenticket.de/. The website for Konstantin is: http://www.wecker.de/ . But nowhere can the performing artists be found. It says "companions of the last 30 years". And the date is mentioned as June 1, 2007 not May 31. The show will be taped by TV.

Munchen - Where it's Oktoberfest all the time. If the folkslinger doesn't show up for the taping, check the Hofbrauhaus!

Ahhhhhhh yes Mikey Oktoberfest ALL the time! I remember back in 1987 while on a visit to Germany, we stayed overnight in a small town on the Rhine. My wife and I ventured out to a local beer joint to sample the local poducts and ambience. I quickly learned that one needs to order your next beer about 10 minutes before you actually need it, because those local natural german draft beers require a lot of time for the beermeister to pour, as he pours it, let's it sit, and scrapes off the ample natural foamy head with a little beer spatula thingy as the beer settles. I also learned that the local oompa band that was playing in this joint, that i was snickering about when I first got in there, sounded real good after the first hour or so of sampling the local product.
So, when adg says it's "spreety good if ys ash me", I kinda know where he's coming from. :D Although I did forget to ask if adg did get a chance to take in any "oompa" bands while imbibing...........

And, Larry, those German beer-server frauleins start looking pretty good after the second hour, I hear. Pass me a Lowenbrau, I'm getting thirsty.
