This is for all of you here on Arlo.net who have to deal with diabetes everyday. I post this in hope it will give you confidence to stay well, and know that there are many out there fighting for the cause, and raising awareness.

The Race Across America ( RAAM) is one of the most grueling bicycle races in existence for non- professional cyclists. This is a 3000 mile race from California to Maryland. There are 40 teams: the link here is to the teams my brother is involved with, team Type I and Team Type 2. All members of each team have the diabetes. You will find their blogs, and their stories here.

I was just curious, Is Arlo in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? If not....why?
I think if he isn't, how does one go about getting him inducted.

Thanks
alex

Ya' know, I don't think he is. Maybe it's time to start a Movement! Just walk into the record store wherever you are and sing a bar......Now if just one person does it...... :? 8)

Arlo definitely deserves to be in the HOF. So many good ones like the Monkees & Tommy James & The Shondells are not getting inducted due to the HOF's predjudices. There is a petition to induct Tommy James into the Hall of Fame. I think there needs to be one to induct Arlo in there too. They are inducting too recent an artists in there & ignoring the older artists sadly...

Hey everyone,

I looked at the list of inductees 1987- to present.
I see Woody Guthrie inducted in 1988 and Pete Seeger in 1996 and Leadbelly in 1988.
Arlo is not listed, although a number of the performers of Woodstock are there.
Arlo is not only known for Woodstock he, as we all know he is known for so much more.
Yet there are rapper bands on the inductee list like Run DMC for 2009. (i know some people like rap and hip hop, I am just not one of them)
Where did Rap get it's start, from Arlo and ya Dylan, he was inducted in '88 also.
I would really like to see Arlo inducted and I am sure everyone on this site feels the same.
Is there something we can do to make this happen?
He really, really deserves to be there, long before some of the people that are already there.
Thanks for your input and any suggestions.

Cheryl your right , Tommy James should be there I loved them when I was a teen.
And Kevin, thats is a wonderful idea, you go and start it off and let us all know how it worked for ya.

Thanks y'all

alex

Last time the folkslinger almost got "inducted" anywhere was at Whitehall St.; thankfully, he saw the shrink and got out of it!

Maybe he'll get into the Rock and Roll HOF when the "veterans" committee meets, if they have such a thing. All these HOF things are skewed way too much in the direction of contemporary artists; how soon they forget.

Hey mikey.

Sorry I have to disagree with statement about only contempary musicians.
Was Frank Zappa a Contempary artist? me thinks NOT
Janice Joplin ? again Me thinks Not
Crosby, Stills, Nash and (Young) they got there start at Woodstock, I am not sure "Neil Young" was with CNY at Woodstock.
Neil Young has been inducted twice, so many others like Paul McCartney, John Lennon are in twice as the Beatles and for their solo careers. I would like to know the process, do some research and see if we can get Arlo where and what he deserves.
Not only for his Dad but, the legacy Arlo has passed on to his children He is also a legend in his own right.
His Humanatarian effort, his Church and all the good that is going on there.
If any one is interested in helping me and my quest I would like to hear from you.

Thanks
Alex

One of my all time favorite Arlo songs seems like it would be appropriate to listen to at this time, kind of a Guthrie reggae tune from his "Power of Love" record called......"Living Like A Legend". Go on, dig it out and give it an ear......it's classic Arlo writing about his life. What a life, what a song!!! 8)

Mikey has a point! Maybe, unknown to us, Arlo was to be "inducted" into the HOF, only to be excused after seeing thier shrinks?

Besides, the word "inducted" may be something our folkslinger would wish to avoid based on previous experiance. I mean, I mean, I mean "inducted" is so involuntary! Don't you think "admitted", "Invited" or some such other word might be more appropriate?
:?:

Okay I do agree with that, invited is a better term.
I didn't come up with the word "inducted", it is the term used on HOF webpage.
As in 2009 "inductee's", I think the word nominations would be better.
Do you think Arlo would rather not be nominated for the R&R HOF.
As I said I am curious.

Thanks Alex
