Sadly, I will not have the good fortune to have Arlo in my near vicinity any time soon. I have a newspaper clipping from Pete's 90th already signed by Pete and Emmylou and am hoping to add the folkslinger next. Does anyone know if he signs arlographs through the mail, or do I have to meet him out there on the old dusty road?

I see no reason why adg wouldn't autograph and return someting you send via mail... Maybe you'll wanna include a few bucks for return postage.

Have you considered making a pilgrimage to the church on 1 of the 3 weekends per year Arlo does a fund raiser... Nothing like getting to the root!

I would love to, but I don't know if that kind of trek is in my budget - I'm in college just out of Philadelphia. Is there a train or bus or anything from Boston for a reasonable price?

i'm pretty sure the church is not anywhere near boston. you'd probably find a much cheaper/faster bus to the harrisburgh pa show from philly. or the Newark one. seems there are a few upcoming NY and PA shows that would be easier to consider going to than the church from where you are.

i have no idea about your original question however. good luck if you decide to try mailing your article. hope you can figure a way to go to a show, though - the current tour is reallllllly great.

Pretty much agree with the others... Send it along with a SASE and a few bucks to help out the church. The current tour is winding down so the folkslinger will have some time off and would most likely happily sign it for you.

The music is not from the show. That's Sarah Lee and her Dad and group from WolfTrap. The intro by Arlo is from the show. This is a good feel for the weekend with shots from the tailgate his friends hold on Sunday. The Church holds a regular hootenanny on Thursday nights. The Guthries come on Friday and do one show a night for three nights as a revival to raise funds for the Church, so the tickets are a little pricey. You can get that cost down by joining the center and even take that off your taxes. I understand what being a student is about, so just saying.

The video has a map showing where the church is located relative to the Massachusetts Turnpike. If you're in Boston, it's a straight shot over to where the exits are down through Lee, Stockbridge and then Great Barrington.

I've only been once (last month) but I suspect the fourth of july combined with camping and a van load of friends would be a fabulous weekend. From what I could see, the hiking is great in there and the villages are beautiful. Hit Stockbridge and find the original Alice's Restaurant (now Teresa's Cafe). DO see the Norman Rockwell museum just outside of Stockbridge.

Take the time to go and take a crew. I promise you won't regret it.

I was ordering a "mooses come walking" from RSR for my niece's birthday. I knew Arlo was in town at the Church at the time and asked Deb if it might be possible to have the book signed before shipping, she clearly indicated it was not possible, rabid fan and regular customer status not withstanding.
