your "cryptic" reply to me concerning Bruce Springstein's remarks about your dad's thinking when he wrote "This Land Is Your Land" which was "What's true for the Boss is what's true for him..." My thinking is that when Bruce wrote "Born In The USA", his song, even though most people didn't pay attention to the lyrics, seemed to be written from the "glass is half empty" point of view where your dad's song seems to come from "the glass is half full" point of view. Bruce tells a story, albeit a truthful one, that comes off as bitter and I understand it because there were no ticker tape parades for Nam vets whereas your dad's song holds an optimism and pride in our country in spite of our problems that is lacking in Bruce's song. I'm not judging Bruce in any way but I do think comparing the messages in both songs is like comparing apples and oranges. And, as usual, you were great last night. We saw you at the same place in Baton Rouge last February and we were up front rubbing elbows with the guy videoing the webcast at Tipitina's in December 2005. It was good to hear that you did get up to Leadbelly's grave because you mentioned last year that you were planning to do it after that night's show.
