Not that I would ever encourage anyone to break the rules, but I've had luck bringing my camera along to some venues where photography was banned, and not taking any photos until the standing ovation (best time if you don't want to be spotted) and during the encore. No guarantee, mind you, but I've done okay with that approach. For Arlo pictures, just go see him at the Guthrie Center. No photo banning, and no one even hollers at the ones with the flash going off. I've taken some good shots up there.

Bill in CT (wishing you all a great holiday season!)

I wonder if they would allow some canvass, some oil paints and a paintbrush? :)

Only tangentially related to this topic of Carnegie Hall and taking pictures...

I see lots of Guthrie Center folks, Blunderites from all over and assorted Tribe of Woody folks at the Carnegie Hall shows. Many I know by name, more I know by face but we always have a great time together. At a reasonable pre-show hour, like twenty minutes or a half hour before the show starts, could we (at least this arlo.net branch of the family tree) pose for one big mutha group picture outside the Carnegie front doors. Chocolate chip cookies in hand, cameras around necks and everyone sayin', "Cheese!"

Hell, we get 50, just 50, imagine 50 people saying "cheese" for one big group picture on the Carnegie sidewalk and we have a movement! Reading this thread we sure got enough photographers...brother John Claeys and others...

Now, say "cheese"....no, no, now wait for this little orange light...no, "Did that flash go off?"

I'm sure a kindly Carnegie employee at the door might snap the picture...they're a friendly group...
