I love k.d. Just got her new C.D. the other day. Didn't get a chance to listen to it 'til the other morning at 4 a.m. when I had woken' up formulating my next chapter of Fahrenheit 32cents. Put it on, laid on the couch in the dark and listened. What a nostalgia trip that was!!!
I saw k.d. when she was here last Oct with Tony Bennet. My Mom(79) is a T.B. fan and went with me. She is still raving on to everyone about k.d.'s voice. Anyway there were alot of Tony fans in the audience (they didn't get some of k.d.'s jokes) and when he and her came out she was wearing her black suit and barefeet (as she does). Well this twin set and pearls lady leaned over to my Mom and with a kind of snooty voice said "Can't she afford a pair of shoes???!!!" My Mom just looked ay me and rolled her eyes. My MOM is COOL I remember during a trip back to the states in the early 70's when I was 18 and she was 49. Walk on the Wildside had come out and I used to ride around in her Mustang with her and we'd sing "Holly came from Miami Fla...." with the radio. She wasn't one of those Moms who tries to act like her teenage daughter or anything but just COOLLL.
Anyway I just got my ticket for K.d.'s concert here next Feb. They sold out within an hour!! She's playing with her band and our Queensland Symphony Orchesrtra. Can't wait to be there with an all k'd' audience!!!

OK.....I'll admit it.....I'm a big Tony Bennett fan. I saw him about 5 years ago. I consider him a Legend of Folk. Look, he is carrying on a musical tradition that would die without him---it's just not the same musical tradition that Pete Seeger is carrying on.

Yeah, I do love Tony too!! He sang Fly Me to the Moon sans mic for us what a voice, he's still got it!!
