All the new songs are good, but one song,"Baghdad Blues", really stood out. This is not just my opinion, the song recieved an applause that was about three times longer than normal, from an audience that was very enthusiastic to start with. Sarah Lee said that Johnny had just recently written it and this was only the second time they performed it in public. [/list][/list]

I caught Sarah and Johnny's show last Wednesday and they were rocking! Joe's Pub is a small cabaret in the Public Theater and a nice intimate place to see a show. The Mammals openned and played a great set. Michael Merenda's song The Bush Boys was especially entertaining. Sarah and Johnny backed by Zeke Hutchins on drums, Jay Brown on Bass and Brad Rice on Guitar tore through a blistering set. Sarah and Johnny both played a bit of electric piano and Sarah even played a bit of slide guitar. My only complaint was The Mammals and Sarah and Johnny only had an hour apiece to play. Sarah was kind enough to give me her handwritten setlist:

....i was lucky enough to be at the Passim's show on thursday....planned to post a bit about it, but think the review says it so well....

...it was a great concert....alot of fine music, fantastic energy, fun, and that sense of immortality of the music.....only the style changes.....

The Mammals put on a wonderful show in Columbia tonight. Sarah Lee and Johnny joined in on a few songs, one of which was one of my favorites, a beautiful version of "Satisfied Mind." I know many of you out there have seen The Mammals but for those who haven't, go see them the next chance you get. I promise you won't be disappointed. Their website is themammals.net. I haven't seen the Mammals yet but I bet it was a great show. SLG & Johnny put on a great show the time they came our way. I hope they come back again...

Though there were a few acoustic numbers done while the drummer (Zeke Hutchins) and bass player (Jay Brown) took a break, this was mostly a rock and roll show, and a very good one at that. The crowd was very much into it, especially when you consider most of them probably thought they were going to see an all acoustic show.

As some of you may have read on the "Arlo Articles & Reviews" thread, Sarah Lee and Johnny's new cd "Exploration" is out. It's available in stores, on iTunes and at Amazon.com. It is really good. I'm on about my sixth or seventh time through it and like it better each time.
