Just heard Gord was airlifted to hospital in Hamilton Ontario,,,,no word on whats up..

That is really sad news. Just last March I wrote to the Song Writers Hall of Fame complaining that Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash have not been inducted yet. Maybe they'll do it now.

The hospital has set up a link on their homepage for updates on his condition. He's not out of the woods yet, still in ICU, but strong and fighting. Looks hopeful.

Here's the latest update, and it's good news for a change! Gord is fully conscious and is finally well enough to be moved out of ICU. Looks like he's finally out of the woods after several complicated and extremely difficult surgeries over the last two months. A Lightfoot family spokesperson said everyone is 'very encouraged'.

JohnC and I were in Montreal when Gordon Lightfoot was taken to the Hospital. Did anyone ever find out what was wrong with him? I read the hosp press release, but it doesnt say. I hope he's OK. He is very "relevant".

I understand it was a ruptured aneurysm of the descending aorta -- very serious. He's extremely lucky to be alive. His doctors say that his physical strength and force of will got him through a crisis that would have killed most other people. He's still a long way from getting out of hospital, but the prognosis is encouraging as is the fact that he is finally conscious for the first time since his initial collapse. Good news for a change! Miracles do happen!

Can't help but giggle at the article It's great to know he's going to be singing again, but I can't quite get over the image of him mixing the album from his hospital bed - lol. That's dedication, isn't it?

It's been a long haul for him, but it's time!

Lightfoot's surprise return to the stage

ORILLIA, Ont. (CP) — Gordon Lightfoot performed Sunday night for the first time since being knocked down by an aneurysm in 2002.

The impromptu performance came at the Mariposa Folk Festival, after a couple thousand fans were told not to leave at the end of a Gordon Lightfoot tribute.

What the audience didn't know was that Lightfoot was backstage, ostensibly to hear the other musicians perform his songs.

When organizers asked if he would make an appearance onstage to say hello to the crowd, Lightfoot said he would sing too.

"I'll just have John (Andersen, Lightfoot's driver) get the guitar out of the car," he told a stunned group that included musicians and festival organizers.

The crowd was on their feet instantly with a loud standing ovation for what would turn out to be Lightfoot's first public singing appearance since he was stricken with an aneurysm while performing at the Orillia Opera House on Sept. 7, 2002.

The Canadian legend left the stage with a bow after playing just the one song — 'I'll Tag Along.'

The singer said he hoped to resume performing in a couple of months.

Yeah Arlo told me the other day Gordon was doing well. I think he might've mentioned Gordon doing this performance. He said he likes Gordon & knows him too. Glad Gordon is doing better...
