Happy Birthday Pete! My first concert at 12 yrs. old. I was impressed at the fact he could get everyone singing. The smoking & drinking laws were liberal in the early 70's & lots of hippies drinking wine and smoking curleys. The fact Pete seemed to have all these people singing songs, and joining in, was remarkable. NTM: I loved the way the man brought an issue to hand. He talked, people listened. I knew at a very young age, this guy had quite a gift. If I owe my Mom anything (and trust me I do) one of the top ten is her introducing me to Pete at such a young immpressionable age. The hippies all loved him. That was good enough for me!!! I liked hearing him talk, as he definately had something to say!!!

Happy B-day Pete with many more to come

How can Pete's legacy be accurately measured? How many lives has he changed, how many circumstances have been improved and how many inspired creations have been generated? How can those who have been touched ever express our gratitude?

I cannot gauge the the first few questions but I can suggest something for the last: Get involved somehow, somewhere to make the world a better place. Learn to sing, cook, make art and share it all.Celebrate all that is good by doing good. Be forever vigilant and protect the integrity and principles of this country, and human rights everywhere. And never, ever give up hope. Miracles do occur. Pete is one of them. Happy Birthday Dear Pete and best wishes for health and happiness.

Happy birthday to Pete! One of the things I've been most grateful for in my life is that Pete Seeger is. My first record was Waste Deep in the Big Muddy. I was in high school and the police action in Vietnam was, er, shall we say, coming to our attention. Then we found this guy who had a lot to teach us. He still does. Always will. Happy birthday!!!!!

Happy Birthday Pete!!! I remember one morning in Chicago back in the mid 1950's my parents were telling me about a folksinger they had seen the night before who told the audience that the FBI followed him around everywhere he went. Naturally, it was Pete Seeger. That has stuck in my mind to this day. Pete has been such a great inspiration to so many for so long. To me he's the kind of person you'd have to love even if you didn't like his music, or even if you'd never even heard his music (if that's possible). Anyway it's hard to believe that almost fifty years later we have the opportunity to sit here and wish Pete a happy birthday. How lucky we all are.

i remember seeing pete once and having the opportunity to speak to him or at least shake his hand and the best i could manage was to approach him knees knocking and without a word shove a program under his nose (translated: "hi, can i have your autograph cuz i don't know what on earth else to do?") without a word and neither of us offering eye contact he takes the program, signs it and as he hands it back to me i manage to exhale the words "thank you." looking up i see him as he looks up and says, "you're welcome." then we both smile big-ly to the point of giggling. (what else could you do after all that drama?)

have a good one pete!
