JohnC and I saw this when it was in NYC in January, 1999. It was presented by the Melting Pot Theater Company.

After the play, the actors/ musicians came out to kind of a makeshift lobby (it was a tiny venue - Theater 3, on West 43rd St. & 8th Ave) and we all enjoyed an impromtu gathering while they all sang well into the night. David M. Lutken, who had a lead role in American Song, went from there to a short run but worthwhile play on Broadway. (I think it was called Gettysburg, but Im not sure, JC would remember.) He had a beautiful voice and a pleasant way about him. It was a wonderful evening - very much worth seeing.

Thanks for reminding me of the nice experience and the update on it's location.

We saw this Friday evening. It was wonderful. Never a dull moment. As my daughter said "it's like going to a play and a concert at the same time."
