Ok, so he wasn't really considered folk, but he was nothing short of a Legend. In my opinion, when it came to the blues, no one was better than John Lee. I consider myself very lucky to have seen the legend play twice, and I will never forget that experience.

John Lee passed away early in the morning on June 21st. Today the world shall sing the blues for it truely has lost one of the greats.

Sparkydon told me of the sad news last night in chat...I'll remember him most for his T.V. commercial....

*He's sitting on a st. corner playing a huge Gibson, singing blues... Can't remember what it was he endorsed. I was always too busy looking at the legend.....

Yes, I'm sure he is. While I never got the opportunity to meet the man, he really did seem to be a class act. He was all about his music, still performing right up until he was called home, and you gotta admire that!

Was lucky enough to see John Lee Hooker here in Ottawa just a couple of years ago.......remember thinking what a show for a man his age.....truly a legend!!

I saw John Lee 4 or 5 times in concert.

My first guitar was identical to one he held on a cover of a med 60s album.

What an artist.
What a man.
