Max Roach passed. I know some don't consider jazz folk music but Max was a great human being and i got to sit in on a drum course with him once. An amazing drummer. He could play in 4 time signatures at once and heve them inter relate and he was an older guy when I saw him do it. The last of the Charlie Parker group.

Arlo said something like "folk music is music folks like to listen to" so jazz can be folk. 4 time signatures at one time ! That's one with each appendage. One hand 4, one hand 3, one foot 5, one foot 7, would allow for no subdivisions..(though they would alternately land on one @ 12, 15, 20, 21, 24, 28, respectively relatively depending on accents.........Balinese Gamelan sychronicity).....though it seems mechanically impossible, like rotarian breathing on a wind instrument. Thanks PSB...I saw Max too...there aren't too many of the old timers like him left around.
