James Brown might not seem a legend of folk music but damn he sure had the tightest band ever. He was truly a human being with all the faults and frailties but packed with excitement. I listen to the Dallas '68 recordings sometimes when I need some energy in my life.

If you're listening to JB from 1968, you know it's folk music! "Live at The Apollo," a classic. "Cold Sweat?" Try sitting still listening to the damn thing. Owww! Huh!

I just hope he staggers over to The Other Side with that cape over his shoulders, throwing it off when he arrives...singing "Please, Please, Please."

We were so sorry to hear about him. We kids used to listen to his Papa's Got A Brand New Bag song. We had a saying back then in the 60's when the song was out. What kind of Bag, paper bag or plastic bag? Rip...
