What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Pete Seeger?
A group of high school-age students pondered the question while gathered on Broadway one recent evening.

Pete who?

Check out the new cd Seeds, The Songs Of Pete Seeger Vol.3. This two cd set is a real treat especially disc-1 which consists of new recordings by Pete including two songs I don't think have appeared anywhere else. ("Trouble At The Bottom" and "Take It From Dr. King") The first track is worth the price of the set alone, a reworking of Pete's "If you Love Your Uncle Sam" titled "Bring Them Home" featuring Pete, Billy Bragg, Ani DiFranco and Steve Earle. Disc-2 features artists such as Janis Ian, Tom Paxton, Peggy Seeger, Natalie Merchant, Pat Humphries, Ronnie Gilbert, Holly Near and others covering Pete's songs. 35 tracks in all. Info here:

Pete Seeger was at a book signing at the Merritt Bookstore in Millbrook,NY. Was a great time for the family. Pete performed and spoke for about an hour and then graciously signed all kinds of books, cd's, lp's, magazines, etc. Good to see Pete still doing it at age 84! I look foward to this year's show at Carnegie Hall.

Pete Seeger to perform at Corn Festival in Beacon, New York. Location is Riverfront Park adjacent to the train station. There will be free rides on the sloop Woody Guthrie, music, food and vendors. I went to the Strawberry festival in June and it was a great time for the family. I hope to go to this one as well.

Also, is there anyone who can record Pete's performance? My Mini-Disc bit the dust and my new one won't be here until next week.

Cyndy - Sorry, It's this Sunday. There will be a swim across the Hudson River in the a.m. with Pete performing for their arrival from Newburgh. The Corn Festival starts at 12:00 I think. Pete came on at 2:00 p.m. in June, but he was around all day and we were able to chat with him. Hope to see you there!
