I'm up for the Albany show... it's right in my back yard! Maybe I'll go to Poughkeepsie too...

Hank - I am so in for this Road Trip. I live just a few miles from the Bardavon (a lovely place for a concert by the way) and would love to start a trip from there. A little trivia, Bob Dylan, Ramblin' Jack and Bob Neuwirth once planned on starting the Rolling Thunder Revue from Poughkeepsie, NY (according to the Rock Around The World radio documentary).

If only Arlo could schedule a few concerts in between, we could start our own "Rolling Blunder Revue"!

Funny you should say that; Arlo did the Rollilng Blunder tour in the 1980s after Dylan's Rolling Thunder tour; hence, "Blunderites" and RBR. A revival of some of the elements would be a good thing, IMHO.

Bob Dylan's 1975 tour was called the Rolling Thunder Revue. It was a medicine-show type of tour which featured guests like Joan Baez, Ramblin' Jack, Roger McGuinn, & (briefly) Arlo. Dylan was never better live. The tour produced 2 great live albums, Hard Rain & Live 1975, which every record collection should have. Anyways, years later Arlo named his newsletter The Rolling Blunder Review, a take-off on the name Dylan chose for the '75 tour. (I think I go all the way back to RBR #2, myself.) Soon Arlo began addressing his readers as Blunderites. It's as simple as that.

I'm glad you like my feeble attempts at reviewing concerts. I have a bunch of 'em on that board, but it's not something I'm really qualified to do.

I agree with you on Power of Love. When it came out, it seemed so blatlantly commercial to me---not only the music, which you accurately describe, but even down to the album cover, where we get a clean-shaven, blow-dried version of Arlo. That being said, I do love reggae & Belafonte-type stuff, & the album grew on me right away & became a favorite. No, it's not a typical Arlo album, but one of these days somebody is going to do a multi-CD career-retrospective Arlo box set, & I would argue for the inclusion of half of the songs from this album.

Neat article about the long-lost Jack album! You're like a walking, breathing, Ramblin' Jack library! It reminded me that the 5/2/02 concert I saw was to be part of a live album that it now appears won't materialize. So there's 2 long-lost Jack albums now.

As to Jack's story-telling---The one I remember best was the 1st time I saw Jack, some time after South Coast came out. It was a long story, very typical of his stories. He was telling about a trip from NY to Big Sur, CA to meet Henry Miller, who is one of my favorite authors.

Jack carefully explained that this was not the same Henry Miller who was in charge of the rodeo way back when, & explained said Henry Miller's duties in pain-staking detail. It was also not the same Henry Miller who owned the longest piece of contiguous land in the history of the world, starting in Mexico & ending in Canada. No, this was Henry Miller the author.

After taking another few minutes to describe everything that happened on this trip, Jack finally gets to Big Sur & is ready to knock on Miller's door. Just then, one of Miller's neighbors comes out & sez that if there's one thing Henry Miller hates, it's people who show up out of nowhere & knock on his door & tell him, "I love your books!" So Jack turned around & left!

Wow, I may not miss Ramblin' Jack this year after all! (Though it might be a tough sell to my wife, as it's our anniversary!) Anyway, this date just in:
