As some of you may have read on the "Arlo Articles & Reviews" thread, Sarah Lee and Johnny's new cd "Exploration" is out. It's available in stores, on iTunes and at Amazon.com. It is really good. I'm on about my sixth or seventh time through it and like it better each time.

It's also available directly from their website:

I was driving this morning and was lucky enough to hear Arlo on Morning Edition, and bits and pieces of the new Saralee and Johnny album. One track sounded a little like the Dead, and all of it sounded great.

A conference call concert with Arlo in Hawaii and the rest of the gang elsewhere (did I hear they were in California?), a snip of Woody, a snip of City of New Orleans, and it was all over too soon.

Arlo needs his own NPR show. Wait, Wait, don't sing that? Guitar Talk? All things that remind me of a story? Whaddaya play? This American Folksinger?
Fresh Hair?

Somebody stop me.

Sarah Lee & Johnny are doing a show out Baldwinville way:

March 10th Columbia, SC ~ Gallery 701@ Longstreet Theatre

Also they are in the new issue of the country music magazine NO DEPRESSION. Nice article. No Arlo pics in it but talks about the new album. I got the issue & enjoyed it...

And I'll be there too. It's just down the street, I can walk there.

BILLBOARD review of EXPLORATION:
http://www.billboard.com/bb/reviews/alb ... 1000827345
Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion's debut album is much more than the sum of its parts, though the parts are pretty great. Sarah Lee, Arlo's daughter and Woody's granddaughter, sings with an effortless beauty on a stack of originals and one cover, "Dr. King," a tribute to the might and methods of the civil rights leader that is the rockingest version of a Pete Seeger song you will hear. There are pure, plaintive country songs ("In Lieu of Flowers") and dynamic rockers that examine the challenges of love during wartime ("Cease Fire"). Additionally, in keeping with the family tradition is a sleeves-rolled-up protest song, "Gervais." These diligently crafted songs, given buoyancy and bite by the co-production of the Jayhawks' Gary Louris, convey the couple's convictions with intensity, optimism and musical dazzle we haven't heard since the blessed '60s. There is something here for any adult-leaning, twang-liking format—not to mention Air America.—W

As the resident baseball expert at Arlonet, I'd say that you have virtually no chance of seeing Sarah & Johnny sing the anthem on ESPN2 (not to burst your bubbles or anything). The game, which starts at 10:00 PM Eastern, is the 2nd game of ESPN2's Wednesday baseball doubleheader. Invariably, the 1st game runs long & the 2nd game is joined in progress, well after the National Anthem is sung.

Your best bets are to go to the participating teams' web sites (links below). From either home page, you'll find a link to Game Day Audio or MLBTV. Every team shares all of its radio broadcasts on their web sites & sometimes you can see a game there as well. Of course, those of us who get ESPN2 can have both the TV & the computer running, just in case.
