I happened to be looking through the paper this evening to find out that Sarah Lee & Johnny will be the Special Guests at a Tift Merritt concert tomorrow night! :D Well, MAKE MY WEEKEND!! It's only about an hour away! My 11 year old wants to go with me (surprise) so we'll be heading to the Columbia-Greene Community College to see them and Tift Merritt. I don't know her or ever heard of her. ANYONE?? :?: The paper said she's a 2005 Grammy Nominee (Rock - Country - Blues artist). I'll report back on Sunday. I hope they do some songs from the new CD which I LOVE!!!!

You will really enjoy that show, Cyndy. I saw Tift Merritt a couple months ago in Asheville, NC and just last week in Greenville, SC. She has two CD's out, "Bramble Rose" and "Tambourine" (the one that got the Grammy nomination). Both are excellent but her live shows are much better. She and her band, The Carbines, are seriously good entertainers. They are all long time friends of Sarah Lee and Johnny. Her drummer is Zeke Hutchins, the drummer on "Exploration" and "Unity Lodge."

Well, WHAT A SHOW!! My two girls decided to accompany me (11 and 14) and we ALL had a GREAT time!! One of the neat things was that in the beginning before the show, Johnny was walking on the stage with Olivia. He picked her up and asked if anyone wanted to hear Olivia sing a song!! SHE IS SO CUTE!! She sang three songs- Twinkle, Twinkle Litle Star, Row, Row Row Your Boat and Skip to My Lou-- She was just SO cute!!! Johhny and Sarah Lee were GREAT! What a wonderful show .. most songs from their Exploration CD. I've seen them before and each time I see them, they get better and better! :D Both Johnny and Sarah Lee autographed my CD and I talked to Sarah Lee for a little while ... which was cool. Their last song was one of Woody's - "There'll be No Church Tonight"(which is a GREAT song)!! Then came Tift Merritt - I never heard of her and she definetly appealed more to my girls than to me (although I really enjoyed her!!) She is very pretty, 28, and very energetic!! She has a great band. She has a WONDERFUL voice!!! So, a good time was had by all! Also I have to add -- Johnny definetly reminds me of Neil Young (who happens to be one of my favorites!!

I saw Sarah Lee and Johnny on Monday 02/05 at the Iota Club in Arlington, VA. It was great to see them, and they ROCKED!!!
They did a few acoustic songs...most were electric versions of songs we've heard acoustically, and it was fabulous!

It was a great evening, and a fun way to end a day that started very strangely...with a loud knock on the door...people wearing white rubber gloves had a big van backed into the driveway with the rear doors open, and said they were from the local funeral home. They said they were there to pick up the body...I told 'em I wasn't quite ready to go.
turns out, they wanted the house next door...where the guy had had a cardiac arrest during breakfast. He had terminal lung cancer, and he passed quickly instead of by inches over a period of months.
